Please discuss the above topic.

No one could really distinguish themselves as a clear second this year. Nadal had a superb middle portion, but couldn't play well towards the end. Who, in your opinion, accomplished the most this year (besides Federer)?

Blake. He was the only one good throughout the entire year.

He just unfortunately didn't really show up for slams except for the USO where he happened to run into Federer.

It is very close. I picked Blake because he played well the most consistently. He won 5 titles, all in different places. On hardcourts he was fantastic, on clay he beat Almagro, on grass he beat Roddick and made the finals of Queens, on indoor he won 2 titles.

I would say Davydenko is a close second. He was consistent throughout most of the season, and he did win a Masters Series title aswell as better showings at the top tournaments. Nadal would also be up there. His claycourt season once again was outstanding, and he proved he can play on all surfaces by making the Wimbledon finals. He was not good at all at any other part of the year.

Roddick was dreadful for everything but the US hardcourts, and Ljubicic's start was good, but not much after Roland Garros.

I'd have to say Blake. Blake has been the American forerunner this year. He played great throughout the whole year. And played great at Shanghai. Beating some very good players, that also have had an incridble year. Good consistant year from Blake

I can't belive that everyone picked Blake. Shocked Come on you all! Nadal won 5 titles - 1 GS, 2 Masters - made it to Wimbledon Final and YE Masters cup Semifinal and you think that Blake had a better year than Nadal? Look at the race points. Blake may have won 5 titles like Nadal but the events were mostly lower tiered.

This is no contest here. Nadal was the second best. He even qualified for the YE evevnt back in the summer.

Nadal did little until the clay season, was great there, but tell me, what else did he do? He was terrible after Wimbledon.

If was that bad, then how come he is second in the race with such a margin over the rest of the pack? He had a phenomenal clay season, PLUS won titles in hard courts as well as played great on grass at Wimbledon. Enough to be second best by a wide margin.

A Slam title and two Masters on clay is how. After Wimbledon he truly was horrid. Blake on the other hand was much more consistent.

OK. Nadal had much better results that anyone else (except Federer) in a shortest amount of time. He managed to collect 894 race points in 6 months and Blake managed 506 points in 11 months. So Blake had a better year. Now I get it! Idea

In comparison to last year, Nadal had a not so hot year. Blake had a marvelous year, starting at around the 20s this year, sprung up to #4.

Nadal, easily. You know if the clay season had just finished everyone would be picking him.

Remember his insane record-breaking streak that continues to this day on clay? His Roland Garros title over Federer, his clay tournaments won, his Wimbledon final?

I mean come on, if you look at the year as a whole on who had the best results, Nadal is the frontrunner. Look at the race like Tennis Fan said.

I am a big Blake fan, but theres no way he out-played Nadal this year, sure he had a great finish, but look back on the whole thing!

I think Nadal when all was said and done was the 2nd best. And that is what the ranking said too.
