The unprecedented world number one is back!!! She was clearly the only person who could stop Serena in this emphatic form. It took some very, very tight games and some absolutely splendid tennis from both women for Steffi to finally come out on top. The second set was particularly joyful; not one break until the ninth game when Steffi upped it a level then held to love to take the title and the first Tier I. She is now both the overwhelming number one and the overwhelming favourite for the Australian Open crown!!
