That was one of the best performances if not the best I have ever seen a woman play. I am just thrilled for her and I sincerely believe that this year she will be back. The scary thing is, she isn't even in great shape...If I were the likes of Mauresmo, Clijsters, or JHH I would be terrified right now!

I actually think she is in solid shape, she was never really that skinny.

Honestly, that was such an amazing performance, I dont even feel that bad for Maria. ANYONE would have lost to Serena on her day today. It was crazy to watch, however Maria's serving was a huge factor.

Did anyone see the speeches and trophy presentation? I was sad when Serena started to cry when saying Yetunde inspired her. That was a lovely end to her speech and gave an insight as to how much that loss has affected her and her family. I also liked the way Serena included Sharapova in her career aswell- 'We're both Nike girls' Laughing

Yes this is one of the best ever performances I have seen from a women, right up there with matches I have seen from Graf, Navratilova, Davenport and Seles- Players who have that ability to just completely dominate a match.

Serena was amazing. I am so happy for her! Congratulations!!!! Laughing Laughing

Her presentation speech and post game interview, reminded me why she was one of my favorites. She is such a likeable character... Very Happy
And I feel for her and her family for the loss of Yetunde

She is the best ever like Federer no doubt. The only thing is she has NO rival; not one woman has ever played the game of tennis as well as Serena Williams. Close to fact. I am not saying she is the greatest player of all time by any means, but she is the best if you know what I mean. Similar to Federer but he has a recent Sampras who could actually challenge him.

I am so pleased. Didn't get to see the match but I am watching highlights/replay tonight at 9!! Woo! Go Serenaaaaaa!!!!!!!

PSALT was saying yesterday that he thought Serena was one of the most talented players of all time, and after a day of absorption, I agree; who else could come back and win a slam just like that? Quite something to marvel at. Very Happy

Well, I don't think anyone doubts the amount of talent she has. The real question, I think, is whether she will keep her commitment level at an peak this year. If she does, she will certainly do some pretty amazing things.

"Stop that! I'm here to stay." Usually she keeps her word.

And leftys, she is definately that most talented player of all time. She is not even a contender for the "greatest" because she has only won 8 slams, but there is no question that she is the best ever in terms of skill. I was just laughing the entire match because she was so good. Incredible shot after incredible shot, followed by another incredible shot!

Serena is one of the most talented players, it is hard for any player to get into a match when she is playing her very best. The problem with putting her as one of the greatest of all time is her horrible inconsistency, the constant breaks in her career, and the lows she has been at. Yes she has won 8 slams in singles, but there are other factors that go into putting players into their place in the all-time lists. If she completed the Box Set then she would race above many players, but right now I would put alot of players above her achievement-wise. I do agree that when she is at her very best, Serena Williams is unplayable. But part of being talented is being able to produce that more often.

Serena is defnitely one of the most talented. If she applied the dedication of Martina Navaratilova combined with her talent, she would be the greatest of all time. However, she does not. So there is none greatest than Martina Navratilova.

However, I do enjoy watching her increible game Very Happy

my thoughts exactly, hopefully she will get in shape...which would vault her into a level of dominance possibly surpassing Seles' early '90s stand.

yeah, not to mention Hingis' dispair at Serena's performance...I'm sure all of them had an "oh no" moment.

I think Serena had that type of dominance in 2002/2003, just not as much as Seles had it. Serena has lost that dominance on the game though, and I think just 12 events this year with some work to be done in the fitness department won't be enough to get that dominance back.
