The YEC race is quickly heating up; next on the list of tour stops is the Czech Republic for the Vaidisova Grand Prix. Child was expected to be the top seed, as was NEA supposed to be the 2nd seed. That didn’t happen as both pulled out last minute, Child citing a bad hair day, NEA a pulled hamstring. However, both were seen at Child’s Hawaiian estate, NEA looked fine, and Child’s hair was fabulous as always. Anyway, Stevos and Valkryie have been given passes into the quarters. PSALT and Jennacourt are now the top 2 seeds.
Matches to Watch Leftys-J-man
These two met in a hotly contested USO RD32 a month or so ago. J-man came out on top, since then he has been in pretty good form. At least for Leftys she can know that she has been showing signs of life on carpet so far. J-man will likely win; Leftys can push him to the brink however. If she can simply keep it close I can see her squeaking out a close win. J-man has been great lately though…..
Jennacourt-Doublea
Jennacourt was awful on carpet until a season ago. She found great form last year, helping her secure the No.1 seed in the YEC. She will have a tough assignment with Doublea, who finally seems to be finding the form indoors that has eluded him throughout his career. It should be a great match, with Doublea charging the net and Jenna trying to come up with the passes that she has been able to find throughout her career.
