TENNIS Magazine: Congratulations on your run to the finals here in Belgium, Not_Even_Amateur. Having won all the Tier II's in the US Open Series, you are considered, behind Yodavitch, winner of all the Tier I's in the series, the favourite to win the US Open. Do you think this run will play to your favour at the US Open?
Not_Even_Amateur: Thanks. Well I am afraid I will not be able to keep that run of winning all the Tier IIs; I have just notified the director of the Pierce tournament that I unfortunately have withdrawn from the tournament. I still plan to play there next year but right now I need to focus on the Grand Slam that is forthcoming and, after several Finals, I think my body needs some rest. I would still put Vanessa as the favourite, she is the Grand Slam Queen afterall, with Yodavitch as second. My trouble is beating the other in-form player or players in the draw besides myself, Yodavitch had too much for me out there but I will have to be able to raise my game to beat players at their best if I am to capture a Major. That is the next step in my game. The last piece of the puzzle, I have everything else. Will it happen at the US Open? Probably not...but don't count on Yodavitch or Child stepping it up either!
TENNIS Magazine: Ranking wise, in your generation, you have a stronghold lead. PSALT, who's year has been sub-par for his standards, at number five, trailing you by almost 600 points. Fellow Brit dav6789 is almost a full 1000 points behind you, and you have almost double the points of the members tightly packed 'trio', which includes the recently resurgent x.doublea and the notoriously noisy rivalry of stevos14 and jbors47. Do these stats matter to you and your confidence, or are they just numbers?
Not_Even_Amateur: The points difference is not what matters, come next season I could be out of the top 10, lots can change over the course of a season. What matters is how I have stood out from my generation over the years. I have always, near enough, been the highest ranked member; often by some distance, I have mostly been the one breaking the landmarks. PSALT had a spell where he was top of the tree, during my awful slump, but this season I have truly dominated and took my generation to a new level; no doubt the others will follow suit. Before me nobody has shown this consistency at the top events, I have really established myself as one of the top three players in the world, not just a top young player, a future talent; I am not one of the best players in the world. Grand Slam success has to come soon....
TENNIS Magazine: Thank you Not_Even_Amateur, and best of luck at the Open.
