here's the draw for the 2007 World Group,

Russia (S) vrs Chile (C)
France (S)(C) vrs Romania
Croatia (S) vrs Germany (C)
Australia (S) vrs Belgium (C)
USA (S) vrs Czech Republic (C)
Spain (S) vrs Switzerland (C) (Nadal-Fed?)
Belarus (S)(C) vrs Sweden (can you please explain to me how Belarus deserves to be seeded?)
Argentina (S) vrs Austria (C)

in the Europe/Africa Zone Group I, the UK will host the Netherlands in their first match, that is a very winnable tie.

also, Canada hosts Columbia in the Americas Zone Group I.

this was never discussed, here is the Fed Cup draw.

Belgium (S) vrs USA (C) (the US isn't even seeded! bad draw for Belgium if either of the Williams and Davenport play)
Russia (S)(C) vrs Spain
France (S)(C) vrs Japan
Italy (S)(C) vrs China

Big question of IF the Williams or Davenport play. We would have had an awsome FC team if the all played together all the time because all three of them are pretty good doubles players too.

I wouldn't be so optomistic if I was him, but then again I'm not the coach!! With Youzhny out and Davydenko not at 100% it's going to be tough. And Marat Safin is very on and off

Well, it's the coach's job to appear/pretend to be relaxed/calm at the moment.

http://www.eurosport.com/football...s-cup/2006/sport_sto1002949.shtml

another example of a player who plays for his country when the timing suits him.

"Want to represent your country?"

"Yeah...... I'll try to pencil you in, I'll see what I can do, no promises though."

Players like Roddick, Ljubicic, and Dementieva are great examples of people who take pride in Davis Cup, and don't mind taking the risk of a early loss the next week.

"No! I can't play in Davis Cup! What if my streak of finals comes to an end next week due to this? My legacy is 50x more important than my country!"

Not much of a surprise...he's done this before. How selfish of him....

I think all players should make room for Davis cup. I how they take their own career over Davis cup for their country. Taking time off from your own tennis and playing Davis cup won't hurt.

This is disgraceful. Switzerland could have won this by now if Federer had played. He annoys me, and I don't find him suitable a suitable number 1 that is a good ambassador for the game, despite the odd charity thing he does here and there. I don't like the way he plays every September to keep Switzerland in the world group, it's almost like he is trying to keep a good record for them, but not actually doing much.

I'm starting to think that he doesn't like to play Davis Cup. He only plays when they really need it. But when there back in the main draw he doesn't want to play. But when they get knocked out and the coach begs him to play he plays. What a tennis player Rolling Eyes

he plays to keep Switzerland in the World Group. After that, boohoo, you win the first rubber (a rubber that they always play seeds in, thanks to him), then I might consider playing one. I really miss the 'old days', when player actually cared about Davis Cup, regardless of their ranking.
