Russia will need to hope the US beats Belgium, if not they will have to travel to Belgium (I am pretty sure) and either Clijsters or Henin (or both) on clay will spell trouble for Sharapova. I also think that possibly Davenport-Sharapova in Fed Cup will be a nice match, it would have a different dynamic then their old matches.
She has only dedicated herself to the first rubber in April vs. Spain because she doesn't want to get tired for the SF which is like after Wimbledon or something(right?). And I think the reason why she didn't play it before was because most Russian players like clay and so when it is in Moscow, it would be played on clay and Sharapova + clay =

just checked, Russia would host Belgium, but travel to the US. If they play the US I think the Americans should choose grass if Lindsay plays. She will beat the other Russian, have a 50-50 chance against Sharapova, and her and whoever she would plays doubles with would manhandle the Russian doubles team. If Lindsay and Venus play, I can easily see the USA winning 5-0. Lindsay is a wonderful grasscourter, and Venus usually plays out of her mind on grass.
