“Good morning sir, may I have your boarding pass?”, the attendant said to me.

“Oh, yeah sure, here.”, I mumbled, still half asleep.

“Oh my gosh, you are Jbors aren’t you?”, she said with excitement.

“Oh, ugh…yeah. You know who I am? , I said with a puzzled voice.

“Oh of course, I am a big tennis fan.”

“Wow, um, well thanks…for the compliment.”

“No problem, have a nice flight, I see you are sitting in first class. It should be a comfortable and enjoyable time for you.”

“Thank you.”

This year has been much different than last. As many of you may know I finished my first season on the tour without a win. No wins and eighteen losses to be exact. But this year has been much different. I have made two finals, and achieved a 16-14 record. Oh, and I have earned enough money to be able to sit in first class now like most of the other players.

Today’s tournament was the Wachovia Classic held in Bangkok, Thailand. My girlfriend of about 7 months leftys_rock held the top seed. I was still unseeded, but my opponent, Beta; I have defeated a couple of times.

We were the second match on, after Duke and Rachy. Duke defeated her in 3 sets, so I had to sit around in the locker room (at locker 47, of course) for over 2 hours. I had my trainer (yes, I have enough money for a trainer now) stretch me out quite a few times to stay loose for the match. A few minutes before my match I got a call from leftys. She wished me good luck and made me promise that I would come watch her next match. I of course did, but I had to hang up right after that because I was being called to my match. I took the court nervous just like usual. I won the toss and elected to serve. I easily held, broke, then held again. After that the set stayed on serve, and I won 6-3. The next set I easily worked Beta over, winning 6-1. I felt great after only being on court for little over an hour, and I was excited for my next match.

Before I could play my next match I went and watched leftys play. If we were to both win our next matches, it would set up a semi-final match between us. Sadly though, she lost. Duke, the 8th seed, defeated her in 3 sets. I was a little upset, but I knew that this would make things easier on myself.

My next match was against the 4th seed Nortan. I dropped the first set 6-2, but stormed back and won the next two sets 6-2 6-3.

I was now in the semis, and my opponent was the girlfriend-killer Duke. I came into the match with a vengeance and fought my way to a 7-5 7-5 victory.

My third final of the year. I would have never expected this, especially this tournament being a Tier III. My opponent was stevos, who is notoriously known for winning many lower tiered tournaments. I was going to have none of that though. I won 6-3 7-5, completing my first ever tournament win. I hoisted the trophy, had some interviews, and walked off the court a champion.

I was greeted by leftys outside the locker room. We had not released our relationship too the press yet, but I guess she didn’t care if they found out now. As soon as I walked through the doors I was greeted with a big hug and a kiss, right in front of all the reporters. Uh oh, this could be trouble.
