Davenport has the most effective serve on the tour. Her whole package makes her have a very high % on first serve points won. She has the total package.

I like venus' for the best. Yes, her second has been atrocious at times, but her first is such a weapon and I dont think anyone else has as good a first serve as her.

I think Venus relies more on power than anything else on the serve. I'm not sure placement is that great.

Hmm, now that I think of it, you're right. I change my pick to sharapova (who kind of relies on power too) but she does have a great second serve too.

Her serve is relatively consistant compared to Venus's.

she still has a relatively low number of aces in her matches though....but yes, her second serve has gotten her out of trouble in some situations.....

Definetly Lindsey, Most consistent and may not have the hardest serve , but it is the most effective.

I am extremely suprised Sharapova got so many votes. She doesn't have nearly as good of a serve as Serena. Serena places it better and gets 3-5 MPH faster. Sharapova's serve is overrated, she has mediocre placement on it, and only slightly above average speed on it when compared to Serena, Lindsay, and Henin.

I agree. Technically speaking, Justine has the best serve, because she can serve so well and so hard at her hight. But, Sharapova is totally overated on the serve. Not a Davenport or a Serena.

Oh, Justine's serve is excellent. So much kinetic energy in it... who has heard of a 5-foot-5-inched woman serving at over 115 mph? Says something about her athletism and her form.
