This is the only combined tour event on grass, in s'Hertogenbosch.

In the ATP event, Mario Ancic is the defending champion. The top seeds are Nikolay Davydenko and Tommy Robredo who haven't started yet. Other seeds Ancic, Marcos Baghdatis, Novak Djokovic and Juan-Carlos Ferrero are all through. Robby Ginepri had to retire.

In the WTA event, Klara Koukalova is the defending champion. The top seeds are Elena Dementieva and Dinara Safina who have a bye. Only Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic survived as seeds. The big story is comeback player Brenda Schultz-McCarthy who is having a limited comeback year. She retired due to injury in 1999. At this event she has reached the QF already. She is a former Wimbledon quarter-finalist aswell.

Davydenko is out already...

Kohlschreiber upsets Davydenko at Ordina Open

DEN BOSCH, Netherlands (AP) -- Philipp Kohlschreiber upset top-seeded Nikolay Davydenko 6-2, 6-4 Tuesday in the first round of the Ordina Open.

Davydenko, who has never won a title on grass, had been favored this time following Ivan Ljubicic's withdrawal with a back injury, but he never even broke Kohlscrieber's serve.

Among the women, second-seeded Dinara Safina rallied for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory over Maria Elena Camerin to reach the quarterfinals.

Eighth-seeded Jelena Jankovic beat Marrit Boonstra 6-3, 6-0 in the first round. Alona Bondarenko benefited when Li Na retired because of a sore neck at 1-1.

Paola Suarez also advanced to the quarterfinals after beating Jelena Kostanic 6-2, 6-0.

Earlier, American Vincent Spadea defeated Bjorn Phau 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 while Mischa Zverev beat Davide Sanguinetti 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

Fabrice Santoro of France won against fifth-seeded Robby Ginepri after the American retired with breathing trouble at 6-1, 3-2.

They say Davydenko hasn't won a title on grass...he hasn't even won two matches on the surface yet.

looks like he got dominated in that one, i guess grass just isn't his surface. he only won one on grass? (i'm sorry i am just a guy that has been watching recently) so like someone said earlier he's a much better clay courter. that's kinda sad that he didn't even break Kohlschreiber's serve

Yes, grass is definitely not his best surface; he's made Roland Garros semifinals before, but he us 1-10 on grass.

Is that his WHOLE career results? If they are, WOW. His strokes aren't very fit for grass, so that may explain it.

It was at Wimbledon 1st round last year. He beat Scott Draper in straight sets. Draper that year won the A.Open mixed doubles and was combining a tennis career with a golf career.

HA! How does that work. Hi, I'm a pro golf/tennis player. Such different games.

Davydenkos looking pretty pathetic on grass.
In the womens it is Dementievas to win. I hope she wins, but I think Safina will win this one.

I was brought to the driving range a few times, and I just couldn't swing. Maybe it's because it's a two handed sport....

Anyways, I think Safina has a good chance. Her strokes suit grass well.

Juan Carlos Ferrero reached his second career grass court quarterfinal by defeating Austrian Jurgen Melzer (pictured) 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in 's-Hertogenbosch Wednesday. Although the former World No. 1 is noted more as a clay court and hard court player, Ferrero has enjoyed success on grass in the past.

He has reached the Wimbledon fourth round in two of the past three years and last year reached the Halle quarterfinals. He has a 15-9 career record on grass. Ferrero improved to 17-12 on the season but has reached just three quarterfinals, including 's-Hertogenbosch.

Ferrero next meets Frenchman Florent Serra, who upset second-seed Spaniard Tommy Robredo 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

Fabrice Santoro advanced to his second consecutive grass court quarterfinal with a 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win over Belgian Kristof Vliegen. The French veteran, who fell to eventual finalist Tomas Berdych in the Halle quarters, advanced to his fourth quarterfinal of the season and improved his 2006 record to 15-13.

Looks like JCF is still using the POG

Daydenko isn't much of a grass court tennis player nor is it his favorite surface. Easy win for Phillip
