This is the first US Summer Hardcourt tournament on the WTA tour (Tier 3), but is not a US Open Series tournament. It is also the comeback tournament of Serena Williams. She faces Anastasia Myskina in the first round...that will be exciting. The top seed is defending champion Patty Schnyder.

I difficult opener for Serena. Myskina has been playing extremely well lately.

I'm not sure about Patty on Hards than on clay Patty Schynder. Myskina has been playing well and I think she can take this tournment

That's really unlucky for Serena...straight sets for Myskina, I think, unless she loses her focus or something.

I don't even know why Serena is doing this. She has not prepared for a comeback as she has been too busy with her non-tennis interests. It would be better if she just said that she is done with tennis instead of faking injuries and trying half-hearted comebacks.

On the other hand, Venus is still serious about tennis and has proven it in last's years Wimby and this years Wimby where she reached the mixed doubles final.

Venus may not be as talented as Serena, but she surely has more heart.

There is no doubt that Serena was a better player than Venus. She was the little sister that surpassed the big sister and was unbeatable... until she decided that Tennis is not what she wanted to do anymore...

At least for 1 match, Serena looked good. And from the pics I saw of her, heart be still she looked to be in pretty good shape.

Is Serena prone to those "UFE" days like Venus is? Because we don't usually hear of really bad UFE numbers from Serena, but she's been off for a while, so she might have them, but she doesn't seem nearly as up and down as Venus is.

the williams sisters will always make alot of UFE's thats just their game, but they also make tons of winners.
I was also very surprised that she beat myskina like that. I thought it might go three sets.

Yeah, except it always seems that Serena is more consistant than Venus in the UFE department, like even on her off days, she still doesn't hit more than 45(which is still pretty bad Laughing ) while sometimes Venus hits like 70+.

That's probably becuase Venus's forehand is very unreliable technically standing still. Serena makes UFE because she's being aggressive.
