I don't like Karlovic. He wouldn't be anything without that serve. He is as slow as a turtle, ugly useless groundstrokes, doesn't have a topspin backhand to speak of. His points consist of big serve, then start slicing until you can get into net, or slice return, then slice until you can get into net...

Yes, I dislike him aswell. His game is horrible. Yet I am quite impressed that he has achieved something on clay. He has done some work on his game to have achieved this on clay...

the sad part is he will probably end up getting to at least a Wimbledon QF one day just because he can ace people 50 times in one match....

If he wasen't so tall, he wouldn't be a tennis player...simple as that. He aced Daniele Bracciali 51 times at Wimbledon last year, and still lost in the first round. Bracciali went on to bring Roddick to 5 sets the next round...

hehe.... I was thinking earlier you would say something like this. They both depend on their serves and have ugly backhands, the similiaritys end there. Roddick is faster, has a better forehand, crazily enough a better net game, and even more crazily a better backhand.

I would say he is similar to Roddick now. But remember Roddick was number 1 in the world and a grand slam champion. It takes more than a game like Karlovic's to win a slam. Roddick's forehand was the best out there in 2003. He is a great athlete aswell. Now Roddick hasen't improved but if he works hard he will consistently remain in the top 5.

The difference between Roddick and Karlovic is that Roddick can actually hit the ball, while Karlovic can't. Last year at Wimbledon, he served 51 aces, but still lost to Bracciali because he couldn't hit a forehand or backhand over the net, a volley into the court, or an overhead past his own service line. Roddick is way more talented.

Yes. He can't break serve or win any tiebreakers, so really, all you need to do is do your job on your own serve and you'll win. That's how Agassi beat him at the US Open (although both players lost serve once) 76 76 76.

I think it was the Madrid Masters. That's really Karlovic's best tournament, because it is indoors, the surface is quick, and the altitude is high- this all helps his serve. I think the score was something like 57 76 76.

Yes. For him, if he loses serve, the set is basically lost.

I don't think he has the volleys or the returns to be a successful doubles player. I think he overworks his serve to much. He stated that he practices his serves a lot in a DEUCE Magazine, so I think it wouldn't hurt if his serve was a tiny bit worse and the rest of his game was way better.
