It's quite amazing. Unfortunately, this will also take a major tear out of her career.

That's quite impossible....only Henin-Hardenne could do that. She probably has the best serve technically on the WTA.

She frequently serves high speeds. She has served faster than Lindsay before...

All of them are important to having an effective serve.

Placement: can keep your opponent off balance not knowing which way to go if you have a good serve down the T and also in the corner.

Disguise: This could provide you with alot of easy points as you keep your opponent in suspense at what you will deliver next, a flat serve, a spin serve wide or any other option you choose.

Power: Of course this is to your advantage. It keeps your opponent back and on the defensive for the most part and if they are able to return it you are most likely able to put it away with the next shot.

Spin: This can also allow you to get set up for an easy 2nd shot and also get your opponent way out of the court with a good spin serve out wide.

So all the things are really important parts of a successful serve. Very Happy

Placement without speed means nothing...speed without placement can still be a decent serve. You sure on this?

I understand that, but for the novice player the most important thing is the placement and I believe that is what the queation was asking. What is the most important. The combination of placement & power are most definetly the most effective serve you could have.

Yes, the question asked is what is the most important. But I will reiterate a placed serve without power is ridiculously easy to handle, if the novice player can pick up speed he has an adequate serve already and can add placement to his serve. I thought it would be better that way...no?

Well, I'm starting to really believe that a really effective serve is that ad-serve out wide. What makes it effective is not mainly the power or the placement, but the kick/side spin created. Without the spin, you can never take the ball out of the court.
