It is good when a poster sees both sides of the argument, but when you are argueing for one side against another poster for the other side, at the same time, it is good to respect the other points, but stick to your own argument's points.
I usually try to get the best out of both arguments. That is the only way I can feel totally informed about the issue. The only problem for me is when I get this information from both sides I have a hard time making a decisive decision and usually sit on the fence on the issue.
I guess then you would have to prioritize which view is better. It's great that you can do that, though. _________________ "Satan is behind Illegal Immigration."- Don Larson, Utah County Republican Tennis Wallpapers, presented by leftys_rock and myself

Well that is the best way to think about the debate and your point: consider both sides. But when you may feel strongly about it, or are trying to prove a point, it isn't always good to include other sides, but it is good to know those points. Your post was a good informative post though, but I agree it can be hard to decide when you have all the points.
Yes. It's so easy to flip-flop from side to side when that happens. _________________ "Satan is behind Illegal Immigration."- Don Larson, Utah County Republican Tennis Wallpapers, presented by leftys_rock and myself
I would hope someday Wimbledon would equal the prices of the all the 2nd week matches between the men and the women. This is why the men are earning greater payoffs at this event because they are bringing in more money because there semi & final are a more expensive ticket. Fair, well maybe yes because the Men could play a match that last about 5 hours long while a womens match could only possibly last 3 hours. The hours of the match don't have much weight with me because I have seen many entertaining matches that were shorter than longer matches that could put me to sleep sometimes.
Yes. As always, it's quality, not quantity.... _________________ "Satan is behind Illegal Immigration."- Don Larson, Utah County Republican Tennis Wallpapers, presented by leftys_rock and myself
I feel this discussion should be renewed because of the press its getting with Tony Blair, some minister lady in England, John Macenroe and of course Venus Williams speaking their mind about it.
I think Venus makes good points, and is quite articulate in her arguements.
I am still for equal prize money, and I recently read an arguement on another forum that said, why should men who are on non-show courts or whose matches dont sell as well be paid the same as men who are on centre court and supposedly making more money than women.
It shouldnt matter, then, that these players are men (on the non-show courts) and therefore get paid more because of their sex, because that would definitely be gender discrimination. If a female player, like Maria Sharapova, goes and plays on Centre court, she will definitely make more revenue than those players playing on the smaller courts.
If you do, however, agree with gender discrimination, shouldnt the men on the bigger courts then however be paid in an amount towards which they earned the tournaments revenue? A ratio could be used, perhaps, for them to earn a cut of the pay.
It seems it is a matter then of sexual prejudice, even though the head honchos at wimbledon claim it has to do with amount of time/revenue earned. If this is true then, should this ratio (mentioned above) be used, and should time of match come into play? If, then, a women earns more revenue than a man AND plays a longer match than him, shouldn't she then earn more for the match??
And for those who think mens tennis generally generates better ratings/ etc. here is an article which states facts talking about ratings of past championships. Should be found interesting indeed.
