I think most people are looking at the Argentina-Croatia and Russia-France ties as the most competitive....The Safin-Gasquet match should be very interesting.

Chris Guccione should be one to watch after he scored 55 aces in his last davis cup match. safin vs gasuet will defentily be intresting. power vs more of a finesse game. i think safin will win though

Well, Safin's still trying to find his groove in his game, so he might be in for a tough match.

If it does get to five sets, Safin might also have fitness problems since he's probably not at his best physically yet.

Yes, that's for sure. It will also be harder for him to break Safin's mental strength since the Russian's mental toughness has gotten much better in recent years.

I think France made a mistake of picking carpet as the surface, for Safin's arguably the best carpet/indoor player there is when he's playing his best.

Yes, although I have a feeling France chose carpet to make life for Davydenko more difficult.

However, France is without Grosjean, who is a very talented player. They're second singles player is Clement.
