Both Williams sisters were saved by the rain! Serena was cramping badly actually... then they both came back and won. Thank you god! Smile

The oldest pair ever... Arthurs (36yo) versus Bjorkman(35yo)!!!

Nalbandian was completely washed out by Baghdatis... Yeah!!

Nadal was frurstrated by the rain... went into 5 sets.

Federer will have 4 days off in a row

Berdych easily into the 4th round... imagine if he actually beats Nadal... remember last year? Twisted Evil

Oh and another thing... for the second consecutive time a Baghdatis-Nalbandian match was interrupted by rain. The previous one was the Semi at last year's Australian Open. Shocked

Federer's must be laughing right now... especially since Nadal squandered a match point in the tiebreak.

After the match, Wayne Arthurs announced his retirement.

Relatively big upset... Vaidisova trumps Mauresmo 7-6 (6), 4-6, 6-1. Mauresmo is quite furious: http://www.wimbledon.org/en_GB/ne...-07-03/200707031183478590750.html

Poor Rafael continues to wait again, at 4-4 in the fifth....

Roddick leads Matthieu 62 65.

This is seriously problematic. It's going to be Wednesday of the 2nd week and there are still 3rd round matches to be finished! Shocked

Ana Ivanovic took out Nadia Petrova 6-1 2-6 6-4 Cool

Marion Bartoli upset Jelena Jankovic 6-3 in the third. Very Happy

I have been saying it over and over again. Jankovic plays too much. Not only will she end up injured, it hurts her Slam chances. Having played 7 weeks in a row, do you honestly think she would have lasted mentally through two weeks and have had any shot at winning a Slam?

yes...they should really listen to the players about doing away with no play on the middle-Sunday. Nalbandian took an angry swipe at the Wimbledon Committee about this in his interview following his loss to Baggy.

It is time to modernize the schedual of play on the middle-Sunday.

1991, 1997 and 2004 all had to have play on the middle-Sunday.

The '91 Men's Doubles (won by Stich/McEnroe still had to be played on the Monday after the finals...it was a great match too...they opened the grounds for free...)

Well, there would be quite a bit of 'debate', I think, for tradition still remains so important. Didn't it take Wimbledon 20 years to switch from white to yellow felt?

Modernize is a good word....

Nadal is finally through... 7-5 in the fifth.

Serena has been knocked out by Henin in three sets. Henin nearly cracked, but managed to maintain composure.

You never seize to amaze me with your knowledge of so much detail history on Wiimbledon. I also know that you have been there.

Anyhow, we now have 4 days to play 4 rounds! This is sooooo bad for the players.....

Women's semifinals are set.

Justine Henin v Marion Bartoli

Ana Ivanovic v Venus Williams

Venus beat Kuznetsova 6-3 6-4.

Ana came back from a set and a break down, then 1-set all and a break down, then 3 match points down to beat Vaidisova 4-6 6-2 7-5. Cool

Okay, I've got to crack on the commentating....as usual it is very nationalistic....durring the Henin/Serena match, Justine struck one of the most powerful, elegant, penetrating, and precise cross court backhands I've ever seen....Johnny Mac, Mary C and Ted Robinson were so wrapped up in their discussion about Serena they failed to mention what a great shot it was....I don't even think they saw it!

Now I know NBC thinks that the casual American tennis fan are only interested in American players, but my point is with this slanted coverage/commentating how could they not be? The powers-that-be of the sport have complained for decades about growing the sport...how come they cannot convince the television producers to widen their focus on other great players....I mean c'mon are James Blake, Andy Roddick, Serena, and Venuse the only tennis players? You'd think so with the slanted coverage.

....its real simple a great shot is a great shot...and a smart/crafty/skilled player is a just that, regardless where they were born.
