I think Kirilenko played because Petrova was tired. She has been playing for a long time in the USA, and had a long match against JHH...

And because there was no chance of Petrova winning. REALLY shocked at Dementieva. Since when did she go down that easy? I never saw the match so I won't pass judgement just yet.

Did anyone see it? Injured? Tired? ANYTHING?

I have read match reports. Apparently, JHH was too good.

JHH went 2-0 up, then Dementieva won a marathon game to level 2-2, then Justine charged on. JHH is a good frontrunner, once she is a set up, she is sure to win...

Then US will play Belguim in the SF starting on July 15th. They will need to bring there A team of at least Davenport & Raymond in doubles to have a pray in this tie.

it really depends. neither Clijsters nor H-H can be counted on to play every tie for Belgium.

anything can happen from now until then. but the belguim team will be harder. i hope one of the big americans (please be davenport) can be on the fed cup team for the US.

It's great that the US won, but I'm afraid they probably won't be able to escape another tie with the team they've got against the calibre of team Belgium has. They will really need to bring at least Davenport.

The USA really need their top team for this one. Even if just one of the Belgian duo play, they will beat that 2nd tier team...

Yes. I think Davenport will probably be available though, if she desides to continue with Fed Cup.

Clijsters hints she may skip the Fed Cup SF against the US if the matches are on clay. She stated on her website she is concerned that the timing of the July 15-16 series in Belguim , which comes about a week after Wimbledon would be too hard to play on clay so soon after playing on the grass courts of Wimbledon.
