Svetlana is a machine...you have too plan for that, read the match notes; the answer is obvious _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

Another tough test for Steffi but once again the champion responds as champions do and prevails. Martina played another great match but a coin toss in each set meant the winner took the set, it was just that type of match and Steffi was just slightly better and more aggressive and prepared to take the match into her own hands than Martina. Hingis is certainly a player to watch though but Steffi continues on and is looking favourite for the title right now...Good match! _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

Wow. Svetlana didn't change at all, not one bit. She still hit the ball ridiculously hard and ridiculously well. But Ivanovic is determined to win this title...she is yet to drop a set! She has been so impressive this week, she really has. I know she is going to test Steffi to the absolute max; we are in for a brilliant Final. Ana will now, after this match, be able to know how to play Svetlana forever; as long as she takes this match and this lesson seriously she should never lose to the Russian again. Great performance and we are set-up for a mouthwatering Final!! _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

Officially you and Steffi will number 1 and 2 in the world...the only thing left to decide is who will have a trophy to the name and who will be the number one
Annabel will be popping into the studio to preview the Final and it will be done tomorrow evening....live scoring!
Be there or be square. (stevos) _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

I was wrong about a Steffi vs Lindsay Final but I wasn't far off; a Steffi vs Ana Final is probably even more riveting. Ana has worked so hard with her strategy and gameplan to get to this Final, she certainly doesn't love the Rebound Ace as much as Lindsay but nevertheless she managed to beat her in straight sets! I watched that match expecting Lindsay to thump the ball from left to right, you know really get Annabel...oh, wait that's me...really get Ana, sorry, on the run but no; if anything she lacked a little aggression in the key moments!
Ana, on the other hand, has been flawless; playing beautiful tennis all week and not dropping a set! She even stopped the hard-hitting Russian Kuznetsova who I honestly thought was going to make the Final, boy has Ana been proving me wrong this week!
Steffi has had a hard run to the Final with all of her matches going the distance; especially her encounter with Elena Dementieva which ended with three tiebreak sets! That was something special; but Steffi had the edge and looks extremely difficult to beat. You can test her for sure, you can beat her in a set for sure, but it seems extremely difficult to actually be victorious against Graf. She is looking in phenomenal shape and I think she is going to be one step too many for young Ivanovic.
I predict Steffi will prevail in three tight sets, maybe 7-5 5-7 7-6...we know it is going to be a mega battle out there; it is all about who picks it up on the day and who raises their game that little bit at key moments. We all know what both players are capable of, but who will be the tour's first number one and first title winner? All will be revealed later on tonight!!
Good luck ladies... _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

Oh-My-God. What a match. The first set suggests that Steffi destroyed Ana but this was far from the case; a coin toss in Graf's favour made it a lot easier but so many of the games were decided by one or two points. In the second set Ana was brilliant, absolutely out of this world! They both played great in the second set and it was an absolute joy to watch. Steffi was just a little bit better on the day and she most certainly deserves this title. Congratulations to both ladies for a great week; long may this unprecedented rivalry continue! Well done! _________________ Tennis is in the mind...

Congratulations Gold Coast Winner and World Number One Steffi Graf!!
*Tomorrow, a rankings thread will be put up and the new tournament thread with the draw and the new points deadlines. Only Ivanovic can really say she doesn't have to send new points (unless she wants to beat Steffi) but everybody else should be sending new points in. Good luck guys! _________________ Tennis is in the mind...
