Oh please PSALT, you know Jbors and you were both very very confident and smack-talking. Even if it was a joke, you still believed you would do well because there was obviously good reason for you to do well.

You definitely got shut up going 0-5. I don't think I need to rub it in anymore, the record does it itself.

Good job x, we did well, 3-2, like I predicted.

And UK I expect many presents in the mail, maybe some tea? Thats the only british thing I can think of that would be of value at the moment. Maybe a crumpet perhaps?

I was not any more confident than anybody else (excluding the 'newer' players, Tennis Fan, Bench, ect.). Results mean nothing, I had no reason to truly be confident.

It was a joke, yet both NEA and you are not joking while you put me down. That is my problem. There are not emoticons from you guys, no little ;), you are both very smug and rude over it. If I was serious when I said my comments, I would understand. I was not however, your comments are not needed.

Laughs out loud! PSALT and jbors left ultimately eating their words while UK turning in a decent showing so far - domination in their last two ties! Beating defending champions! Come on dav!!

no offense to Tennis Fan, but I don't think France will challenge ANYONE. Argentina looks good enough to win however, I think they will pick grass if they do. both are very good at net.

Actually France challenged a few teams and managed to beat the US! and I won over PSALT! Laughing

Yes but what other factors went into us losing to let's say, France.

If you followed our results you would have noticed that we were very close to beating Argentina. We were 2-2 going into the doubles with Argentina, Australia and Canada and lost all three. In the meatime, USA lost all their ties 4-1 and your doubles matches meant nothing.
So when we faced you in the doubles we were in our 4th doubles match playing for the win, and we did just that! Laughing

A wink means nothing in reality, I don't feel the need to put a wink; people should just know whether I am joking or not. It was more jbors than you, but both of you were arguing with dave about how great you were, granted so as dave, but we did the business and you collapsed. That was all I was saying. Any need to get your knickers in a twist?

NEA I was talking just as much crap before this as stevos, and PSALT, so dont put this on me. I have actually been pretty well behaved (aside from my little outburst after losing) lately.

That 'arguing" was banter between Dave and I, and is one of the examples that I was not serious about it. You said you were serious in your put-downs. Why were you? What reason did you have to respond to a joke with both smugness and rudeness?

Firstly, I was not smug. Secondly, I was not rude. Thirdly, I do not believe you are arrogant in real life. Does that then constitute me joking? Can I not say "arrogant Americans" have been shutup or whatever in a banter kind of way? When you asked if I was joking, I said no but I was not being serious! It was still a persona type banter thing...I wondered why you got so caught up in it all...

And jbors, I just said most of the "America is great" was you...everyone seriously needs to chill out, this was all a joke last I knew. I don't know whether you guys are sore because of the hammering you took or what Wink (please notice necessary wink).

If it was banter, I apologize. When I asked if you were joking, you said no. I took that as meaning you were serious that we 'got what we deserved' and were arrogant. Under the circumstances, getting that idea was expected.

Gosh! This is "Fantasy" league afterall. There is lot more joking that seriousness here and this is the way it should be.

For example, is there any doubt that I would always root for USA over France? Yet in FTL I am representing France. Laughing

I think the 'wink' is extremely useful on boards. It's sort of a representation of what would happen in 'real' life: people make what would be content wise, potentially hurtful. However, once they begin to smile a bit (naturally), you know they are joking or not intending to hurt. Same thing applies here. Except the wink takes the place of that natural smile which usually creeps on some's face.

I agree, but when it crops up everywhere it makes this place look like a circus, far from serious; just a pack of jokers.

I think it is very useful, but surely people can tell serious from jokes? "Deserved what we got"...why is that insulting anyway? It is only Fantasy Tennis, I don't see how it would be harmful, though it was said in jest.

The wink emoticon is a great idea but surely should be used in moderation, besides banter is hardly banter when you are saying to each other; look a wink! I am only joking with you best buddy!

How about not being so uptight...?

I had originally thought you were joking, look at my first post to you. I didn't think you were serious until you said you were. I was not uptight, it's not as if I got upset without bothering to see what you meant.
