Really beautiful operas... well, Tabarro's a bit violent in nature. Suor Angelica is dissonant and heavenly (IMO), and Gianni Schicchi is your Falstaff-like comedy (with O mio babbino caro).

Absolutely AMAZING... the Armida aria, sung by Maria:

I encourage everyone to have a listen to it... even if you don't like opera, this should change your thoughts slightly!

Hi PSALT,

There are no full operas of her recorded. There are two Tosca Act II videos...

First is her 1958 Paris Opera Gala performance. This was her debut, and she sang Casta Diva, D'amor Sull'ali Rosee, Una voce poco fa, and the second act of Tosca. It's a great performance. The DVD is called 'La Callas... Toujours' (http://www.amazon.com/Maria-Callas-Callas-Toujours/dp/B00005LIN2/ref=sr_1_4/105-3774491-0585264?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1185042108&sr=1-4).

Second is her famous Zeffireli production performance at Covent Garden in 1964. I have only seen snip bits of this one via YouTube, but it is supreme dramatic acting. The DVD is called 'Maria Callas at Covent Garden 1962 & 1964' (http://www.amazon.com/Maria-Callas-Covent-Garden-1962/dp/B00006BSGZ/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/105-3774491-0585264?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1185042108&sr=1-1). The 1962 videos are her performances of the Carmen arias (Habanera & Pres de remparts de Seville), as well as our favourite, Tu che le vanita from Don Carlo Wink .

There are a few clips from the famous Lisbon Traviata in 1958 (with Alfredo Kraus) in this DVD: http://www.amazon.com/Art-Singing...vd&qid=1185042108&sr=1-15

Besides that, there isn't really any other extensive video of Maria in a performance. There is a DVD of her in Hamburg in 1959/1962 (couldn't find a URL). In 1959, she had a cold, but she sounds quite good (abate a cracked high C in the Macbeth aria). In 1962, the top is a bit wobbly, but the intensity of the performances is legendary.
