I think Safin can hit his backhand the hardest of anyone, and right onto the lines. His backhand down the line is lethal, even when returning. However, he does make alot of sloppy errors on it aswell when he is not playing well.
Agassi's is alot more consistent, and he uses his opponents pace very well. When he makes an error on it, it is unlikely he will make another on the next shot. It is more realiable than Safin's.

Australian Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis has missed a crucial opportunity to gain ground on No. 8 Tommy Robredo in the Race to Masters Cup after falling 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 to Arnaud Clement in the first round of Lyon.
Top-seeded Baghdatis took to the court knowing that Robredo had earlier in the day lost his first-round match in St. Petersburg. The Cypriot, who is No. 10 in the INDESIT ATP 2006 Race, could have overtaken Robredo had he won the Lyon title. The top eight players in the Race will qualify for Shanghai.
Also Tuesday Lyon lost second-seeded Gaston Gaudio, who was beaten 6-0, 6-2 by Simon Greul in just 55 minutes. Greul, the winner of three ATP Challenger circuit titles in Cordoba, Dresden and Ettlingen, improves his ATP season record to 11-15.
Gaudio, who retired with a stomach injury in his first round match against Nicolas Massu in Madrid last week, won 32 of 90 points.
Richard Gasquet (pictured) defeated former World No. 1 Marat Safin 6-4, 7-6(5) to the delight of French fans.
Third-seeded Dominik Hrbaty (pictured) overcame Florent Serra of France, who beat the Slovak en route to the Adelaide title at the start of the season. Despite hitting seven double faults, Hrbaty won 80 per cent of points on first serve with eight aces for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 win in one hour and 42 minutes.
Dick Norman will play either No. 4 seed Richard Gasquet or Marat Safin in the second round, following a 6-4, 7-5 win over Olivier Patience of France.

France’s Marc Gicquel knocked out third-seeded Dominik Hrbaty 6-3, 6-3 in just 66 minutes for a place in the Lyon quarterfinals on Wednesday. Gicquel won 81 per cent of first serve points, hitting 10 aces in the pair’s first meeting.
Gicquel, who improves his ATP match record to 15-10, goes on to meet either Sebastien Grosjean or Cyril Saulnier.
Eighth-seeded Nicolas Almagro (pictured) beat German Florian Mayer 7-6(5), 6-4. Almagro, who captured his maiden ATP title in Valencia (d. Simon), hit 11 aces and saved five break points for his place in the quarterfinals.
In first round action on day three, American Robby Ginepri edged past Gilles Simon of France 7-6(3), 7-6(5) in one hour and 43 minutes. Ginepri held two match points on serve at 5-4 in the second set.
Simon’s compatriot Michael Llodra beat Michael Mertinak of the Slovak Republic 4-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 in two hours and 10 minutes. _________________
This is a very good result for Gasquet, his first singles title on home soil. This is his 4th title, 3rd of the year. He beat two former champions on the way to the title, both from a set down. He joins Roger Federer as being the only players to have reached finals on 4 surfaces this year (Clay, Hard, Grass, Indoor). Gicquel was playing his first singles final at the age of 29.
The doubles title was won by an all-French team of Julien Benneteau and Arnaud Clement. They beat Frantisek Cermak and Jaroslav Levinsky 6-2 6-7 10-7. It was Clement's 6th doubles title and Benneteau's 2nd.
