Oh that looked dreadful, and the screams were just painful. This is so sad. I really hope it's not the end of her career....

I also think Lindsay playing that silly Challenge thing again is a bad idea. She needs to play Sydney for her warm-up, not waste her time in an exhibition. I don't know why she has started to do this, she has had so much success in Sydney. It's also much better conditions to warm up for the A.Open.

Petrova through( Rolling Eyes ), Vaidisova through(she served 20 aces! Shocked ), Sharapova just through(7-6, 7-5 over Ivanovic).

the Vaidisova match was very strange, it wasn't that bad of tennis, just weird. one player would play really well for a couple of games, then play badly, and it was like that the entire match.

Sharapova and Ivanovic was dramatic, not that interesting though. Sharapova served 4 doubles, Ivanovic 3. Both was around -5 for the match. it did heat up a lot near the end of the second when Ivanovic was playing great and dug out of 2-5. Sharapova was also choking a little during that time too, served most of her doubles during that run by Ivanovic.

Pierce ruptured a ligament. If you remember, this is what happened to Danilidouu (I spelled it wrong, I know). she was out for 6 months.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Sharapova lost. She's not been the most adept at closing out sets this week. And she's tired.

Top seed Maria Sharapova won the Generali Ladies Linz title, beating 2nd seed and defending champion Nadia Petrova 7-5 6-2. This takes her winning streak to 16 matches, and she has won. She has won 24 of her last 25 matches going back to San Diego in August. She last lost in Los Angeles to Elena Dementieva. She had to pull out in the QF of Moscow, but other than that she has been perfect. Petrova was appearing in her 3rd final in a row. Both have already qualified for the WTA Championships in Madrid.

Whoops, wrong in my prediction. Embarassed The confidence she will take into YEC! (regardless of not beating really high caliber players)

Maria is really playing well. It seems that no one can stop her.

I don't think that she has been playing THAT well. Well enough to beat the players she has beaten in the last 2 weeks, but nowhere near as well to beat Mauresmo or Henin. Kind of sad that she can win 2 events in 2 weeks not playing her best, but that was what was required of her to win, and so she did. But regardless, a title is a title.

The top ranked team in the world, Lisa Raymond and Samantha Stosur, continued to win by claiming the Generali Ladies Linz doubles title. They had a slight slump in the summer, but are back in form in time for the defense of their WTA Championships title. They thrashed Corina Morariu and Katarina Srebotnik 6-3 6-0. This is stretches their tour-leading number of titles to 8. They now have an 80-19 match record since teaming up together in the summer of 2005.

Just watched the Maria match on Youtube, she played well to save two set points first set! Very Happy Vintage Maria of course, and also a vintage Petrova-Sharapova match, sharapova winning a tight first one, then owning for the rest. Petrova had set point in Australia as well.

Great win Maria, don't lose this streak at the YEC Confused
