Anyway, Berdych beat Nadal 6-3, 7-6! Yet more controversy!!! ATP and WTA matches are having really sour endings and consequences right now...

The crowd were really cheering Nadal, didn't boo Berdych, but did cheer a double-fault once. I once described Berdych as "petulent" well he sure lived up to that adjective. When he won he put his hands to his lips in a "silence" gesture and looked around the stadium then they shook hands and Nadal said "bad, very bad".

Berdych got jeered off and he kept raising his hands in the air and every now and again giving a thumbs up to somebody!

Berdych now leads the H2H 3-0 as a result of this, yet another player who takes advantage of Rafa's willingness to defend on such a fast surface. He needs to bring his Wimbledon game or else this pattern is going to continue, for the first time I am getting a little frustrated with his tactics...

I though his "silence" gesture was toward his supporters, telling them not to cheer. I'm not for sure though.

Raising his hands like that was a little bad though.

I'm sorry, but if Nadal said "you are a bad person" at the net, he is just being a sore loser. Just like how Fed called Nadal one dimensional after Nadal beat him again. The crowd was TERRIBLE. (I watched on a downloaded match) It was not the best thing to do, but did Berdych complain at all during the match? No. He was basically throwing back what the crowd did.

Must fustrating for Nadal. Berdych has Nadal's number. Not the greatest sportsmanship. But that's the sport.

Federer will play Nalbandian, who, just when we thought would stay down and out, has come back.

He said "bad, very bad". Which is true. Let us give you another scenario shall we leftys?:

Agassi in USO (this is really Spain's equivalent!) crowd doing WORSE than what Spanish crowd do, because they do - fact - yet Berdych overcomes it and beats Agassi. He then gives a silencing gesture to the crowd.

Would you come on here saying "he was basically throwing back what the crowd did". I highly doubt it.

Besides I really don't think it was Nadal being a sore loser, it is like saying Henman was being a sore loser the other night with Nalbandian. Berdych was out of order, period. You don't do that. The crowd didn't boo Berdych at any point, just acted the same way as any patriotic crowd does. Nadal has to deal with it all the time and he would never do that gesture. Nadal still shook Berdych's hand but then commented that what he did was "bad, very bad". I agree with him and I don't think he crossed the line in letting Berdych know, he is too big for his boots that guy, I cannot wait until Federer cuts him down to size!

But Berdych was delivering it back at the CROWD, not Nadal, and Nadal did say he was a stupid person when he was interviewed later. Saying you're stupid is a personal comment.

What Berdych did was not right, obviously, but what Nadal did wasn't right either. But both are young guys, I don't expect this to happen in the future.

And NEA, Federer doesn't need to cut him down to size, Gonzo already did. Wink 6-3, 6-1.

And what's with all this drama in tennis lately?

Nadal looked pretty p*ssed after Berdych did that... I guess Berdych's experience was different than any of us, so we won't really know how he felt about the crowd (really). Did the fans cheer on his errors?

I don't fault Berdych for the after-match gesture, but did you see what he did at the 6-6 tiebreak point? After he hit the backhand winner, he actually imitated a Nadal celebration:

That's bad sportsmanship.

The first time, when it was in "real" time, it didn't look so bad, but the replay looked very mocking.

it is purposely trying to make the other person look stupid, it's bad sportsmanship. making fun of your opponent is always a big deal.

But tons of people do what Berdych does. To me it's not a big deal. I mean when you do as much celebrating as Nadal your bound to get someone to immatate you. Look at Hewitt
