in an article about Venus' match it says her wrist was huring her. the article says that she was forced to slice just about every ball that came to her backhand.

also, Dechy made quick work of Petrova to advance to the quarters.

It seems that the golden draws for Petrova are finally coming to an end.

Her draws are still pretty good. But she is losing to even the easier people in it! Laughing Laughing

This is a very very interesting Tier II. Dementieva out to Radwanska, Schnyder out to Schiavone. Schiavone is the only seeded player left! The rest are Bondarenko, Radwanska, and Peschke.

I have to admit, I have never heard of those three players until this tournament. Very interesting indeed. I think Schiavone is the favourite to win it now, unless this Teir II becomes any stranger.

Very welid tournment. My pick went out to Radwanska. On paper Schiavone is the favorite. But I think I will go with Radwanska. If she can beat Dementieva she's got game and I think will be able to overcome the rest of the field

Agnieszka Radwanska has been making alot of progress this year. She also reached the QF of Warsaw, another tier 2 event. She won Junior Wimbledon last year, and Roland Garros this year. Her sister, Urszula Radwanska has also been rising up the rankings.

Anyway, I don't think this tournament is as straightforward as it seems. Schiavone has never won a singles title, and had a bad loss in the final of Sydney. Radwanska's confidence must be sky high right now, and if she can beat Venus and Dementieva, why would she lose to Schiavone? I want Peschke to win this though. I really like watching her play. She is looking to win her first singles title since 1998. She and Schiavone are a top 10 doubles team aswell.

Radwanska lost, I was very impressed with her though. She needs to work on her serve placement, but gets a good amount of pace behind it. She reminds me of Dementieva a little bit, her groundstrokes take you by suprise. Radwanska has very powerful groundstrokes, those alone will get her into the top 20.

Bondarenko def. Schiavone 6-3, 6-2. Poor Schiavone, still no singles title yet.

she is a choker, losing 3 and 2 to some kid, ranked how far below her, in her first singles final? this was Schiavone's best chance for a title and she choked it away.
