<my first attempt at a poll>

We had a similar poll for Wimbledon.

Here you vote for players that will make the QF at least, if not the SF.

I wanted to have more options but the limit was 10 Sad

I think Gasquet might, getting to the final of Toronto will really help him. I know Blake seems doubtful at the moment, but the courts at Flushing Meadows suit him much more than the ones at Montreal. The ball skids more, so he can be more agressive.

Gasquet, he beat Blake, Berdych, and Murray, three guys that also could make a run at the USO. Taking a set off of Fed is always an accomplishment, despite Fed losing a set in three straight matches. Tursunov, Malisse, and Gonzo either broke him once or beat him in a tiebreak. Gasquet broke him twice, but collapsed from then on Sad

PSALT

Gasquet played like a top 3 player in that first set, most of Federer's errors were forced. The ball was jumping off the court from the massive topspin of Gasquet forcing errors. I think he will make the semi's and quite possibly the final.

I voted other. I think Berdych can get a few upsets and make a run at the open.

I picked Baghdatis as he is known to play his best at Grand Slam events this year.

I want to say Gasquet, but I think Murray will do better.

I think Gasquet needs to improve his mental game...he has gotten shakey in the past...although I think he will continue to improve and will soon be challenging Federer and Nadal for 1 or 2....Monfils I hope he will improve...I do like watching him play

Murray is really blossoming with Brad Gilbert's help....I think this guy will too, soon be challenging for the 1 or 2 spot.

I agree. I like Gasquet but he can get shaky mentally so he is not a solid bet. Murray with two pretty good results is looking better

The list missed 2 good players that I see will be big factors in NY- Tursunov and Gonzalez. They've both played a lot of matches this summer, have had success, and both have huge power games. Tursunov has a cannon for a forehand, a big serve, and he's getting more confident by the month. Gonzalez is adding some new dimensions to his usual go for broke style (addition of a new coach should really help this guy play smarter/safer), which could put him over the top and make him a legit top 10 player. I wouldn't want to face these guys 'cause they could literally blow you off the court.

Yeah, I wanted to have more choices but the limit was 10. I had to delete Ancic, Berdych, Gonzalez, Tursunov, Stepanek and couple of others... Sad

Very surprised that Blake has done nothing since Indy. Maybe he's feeling the pressure since he's a big name now. I really have no idea how he'll do at the USO. I could see him losing say in the 3rd-4th rd. or going all the way to the final. Have to wait and see, but overall it's been a very disappointing summer for him and all the Americans.

I'll be crossing my fingers for Andre for the entire two weeks at the US Open. It would be such a pity for him to be eliminated early, but, of course, he has a tough draw (Baghdatis in the second, Roddick in the fourth, Ljubicic in the QF). I think he can pull it off though. He has to.
