Blake is out.
Youzhny got won 7-6(5), 6-3.
I'm hoping against my better judgement that Blake doesn't go into a tail spin after this...
Time will tell.

I am not liking this RR format. I do feel this is rather unfair to Blake, or anyone else that would be in his position. To make it through to the quarters he needed to Del Potro in straight sets, losing 5 games or less. Blake was AMAZING in that match. He truly was crushing Del Potro. Del Potro started having breathing issues in the second set however, he then retired down 1-6 1-3. Because he retired Blake won't go through. I find it rather unfair to lose an event simply because your opponent couldn't finish a match.

That is awful for Blake and that system absolutely has to be reviewed. He will get the points for winning but won't get the games? Del Potro should be awared the games he win; 2 and therefore Blake advances. Fact.

This is ludicrous. This should be a single reason as to why this RR formats are all rubbish. I can't believe they are doing it by games won! Just dumb. Blake's back in now, but that just shouldn't happen.

FINALLY!! Korolev is out. He lost to Melzer 6-7 6-2 7-6.
I can't stand Korolev's game. He is horridly boring. He sits there hitting crosscourt with his hideous strokes (his forehand is awful to watch) almost every shot. He very rarely ever goes down the line. Watching him play is truly mind numbing, I surely would have lost my sanity if I had to see him in the final.

I remeber seeing him play in the Davis cup rubberagianst Roddick. I thought he had decent strokes and hit a solid ball. But he had no variety or game plan. He needs to learn how to construct more points.

Second seed Lleyton Hewitt has the opportunity to atone for his loss in the 2006 final of the Tennis Channel Open when he plays Austrian Jurgen Melzer in the title match Sunday.
On Saturday night Hewitt took advantage of an error-prone performance from Marat Safin to win the battle of the former World No. 1s 7-5, 6-1 in 1 hr., 21 mins. Hewitt made just 13 unforced errors to Safin's 36.
The players traded breaks in the first two games of the match but after that Hewitt was rock solid, breaking Safin three more times and waiting for the Russian to bring about his own demise through a slew of unforced errors, particularly in the latter stages of the second set. The Australian leveled his head-to-head series with Safin at 6-6.
Hewitt, who has won just two titles in the past two seasons, now has the chance to extend his streak of winning at least one title a year for 10 consecutive seasons. The 26-year-old has won 25 career titles.
In contrast, Safin's title drought continues. The two-time Grand Slam champion has not won a title for more than two years, with his last success coming at the 2005 Australian Open, where he defeated Roger Federer in the semifinals and Hewitt in the final.
Hewitt said that he hoped to erase the memory of his loss to James Blake in last year's final in Sunday's title match: "I'm hoping to go one better this year and I've given myself an opportunity to hold up the trophy," he said. "It will be a totally different match against Melzer in the final. He's an underrated player, who is tough on all surfaces."
Left-handed Austrian Jurgen Melzer (pictured) will play for his second ATP title in the Tennis Channel Open final after defeating Russian Evgeny Korolev 6-7(4), 6-2, 7-6(4).
Melzer looked in danger of crashing out in the semifinals when he was broken to go down 2-4 in the third set after being burned by two missed drop shots - including one from behind the baseline on break point. At the time it looked like the turning point of the match, but it was just the first of six breaks of serve the players would trade in the final seven games of the set leading into the tie-break.
Korolev served for the match at 5-3 but was broken as Melzer won three straight games to take a 6-5 lead, only to be broken himself when he tried to close out the match.
Melzer, 25, who won his lone singles title in Bucharest last year, is playing in his second semifinal of the year. He made it that far in Sydney two months ago (l. to Blake). From then until this week, he had struggled, going 2-4. Now he is 9-5 for the year.
While playing his way to the final in Las Vegas, Melzer has enjoyed the entertainment the city has to offer, including Celene Dion, Mama Mia and tonight he's set to see Christina Aguilera.
Korolev, 19, was playing in the first semifinal of his young ATP career. He slipped to 6-7 on the year.

Second seed Lleyton Hewitt captured his first ATP title of the season on Sunday and avenged his final loss last year as he defeated fourth seed Jurgen Melzer (pictured) 6-4, 7-6(10) in one hour and 41 minutes in the championship of Tennis Channel Open.
Good job Hewitt. Some confidence in the tank can only be good for him. He did not have a great '06 but with a win here he might be able to turn it around
