Between Roddick and Kohlschreiber......excellent match, had the feeling during the begining of the 5th set that Kohlschreiber was going to take Roddick out....Roddick to his credit didn't go easily.
For Kohlschreiber sake, I hope his confidence continues to build and that momentum carries him to a great year....he can really play...in other words I hope that this wasn't a flash in the pan for him.

It was a great match... somehow, I also felt that Roddick was going to go down.
Saturday was the most incredible day with Federer going to a 5-setter and then the incredible maich between Hewitt and Baghdatis... what a contest!!!
What do yoiu think about Tsonga? he is really good!
Rattler
I think Tsonga might just win it all....I like him better than Nole in this match....only because after Nole beat Federer he had this look on his face like "I don't think I could do that again"....like he was too affected by knocking Federer out, a common occurance at tourneys where a lower ranked person knocks off a high seed...just like Kohlschreiber went down rather flattly against Nenamen after the Roddick match...although he may have been physically spent after the Roddick match.
Anywho...I Tsonga is the real deal, if he stays healthy we should see much more of him....I'm interested to see the men's final because they have never played each other...I'm curious to see how Djokovic handles being the favorite in a Major final.

Well, good for Djokovic....Tsongas had me thinking he could win it all after that first set, but I think he thought about it too much. I also wasn't aware that this was Tsongas' first pro final.

The final reminded me of the 2006 final, when Baghdatis won the first set and then went up a break up in the second... but then "started thinking too much" as he said, and lost the critical second set. Did you know that the winner of the second set in the last 16 AO men finals went on to win the whole thing?
Anyhow, I hope to see more of Tsonga. He played really good!
Btw, I am happy for Nole. He really deserved it. Now we have a 3-way race for No. 1

Could Nole really be that close to No. 1? I thought that Federer had lapped Nadal by a thousand or so points and Nadal had lapped everyone else by the same margin.

Check the standings. Did you know that if Federer lost in R16 (which he almost did) and Nadal won the final, then Nadal would be no1? The gaps have srung a lot, partly thanks to Nalbandian's end-of-the-year surge.

That's quite stunning, actually... I guess it shows that Federer's opponents are, slowly but surely, catching up.
