The Dri-FIT appreciation thread

Besides the racquet technology of the last 15 years, Dri-FIT clothing has had the biggest impact on tennis.

I can attest that I will never wear cotton on the court again.
J-man

Yes it definately is incredible. For me now, its hard to convert back to regular cotton t-shirts when I play tennis. I'm not sure if it has had the biggest impact besides racquets, but it has improved the comfort of the players, that's for sure.
dav6789

It is so uncomfortable playing in the old t-shirts. The sweat sticks to your body..
x.doublea

Yes, Dri-Fit has certainly made a huge impact on tennis- even more than ClimaCool.
leftys_rock

yes, i love dri-fit....especially for my hats and tshirts.....best stuff since sliced bread!! well maybe not that far but...
I'm 4 Tati

I love this stuff, it is so comfortable and keeps the sweat away. Less changing of those sweaty T-shirts and caps.
Not_Even_Amateur

Climacool is the place to be Cool
leftys_rock

hmm, i havent used climacool....is it almost the same thing??
x.doublea

No. Dri-Fit is something to do with the material, while ClimaCool is more like having small holes in the clothing.
leftys_rock

ahh....i havent tried it....but i do love my drifit clothing.... Very Happy .....ALL my hats are dri-fit....

Nike Sphere has sort of taken over Dri-Fit now, but Dri-Fit is obviously the name people know.

I don't like this trend of compression or tight fitting shirts. I saw the Addidas version at the pro-shop the other day.
...besides the fact that the design looks like Spider-man's next costume.
...on the hanger the Large shirt looked like one of those shirts people dress small dogs in.
How can you play with such a tight shirt on? I
t's got to restrict movement.
J-man

to tel you the truth i actually like those tight shirts. but paradorn proved you wrong he can play in those tight shirts Wink
x.doublea

Most of the Nike Sphere's aren't too tight fitting. The Coria outfit is definitely not the place to go, as it's as tight as you can get. Some players (Ex. Federer) seem to wear a size to small just so it looks tight....
FredBed

Dri-Fit

Under Armour and Nike T-Shirts absorb the best.
I like nike's hats aswell they really remove the sweat.
Will never wear a cotton t-shirt on court again!

I hated the fact that last year, at my school, they made us where the cotton team shirts for the championships- it actually felt noticeably heavier and less comfortable than Dri-Fit or Dry Sphere.
Benchwarmer1

how did you guys do in the championships?
x.doublea

The format was quite stupid. We played first to four games, and every team got a point for every game they won. So, we came just short, losing by just three total games won (105-102).
Benchwarmer1

what NTRP level player are you?
x.doublea

I'm not sure, but I'm approximately 4.5.
Benchwarmer1

nice, this is like my first year playing, but i think i am a little bit lower than a 3.5
x.doublea

Wow. That's pretty impressive. It took me like six years to get to get to 3.5, although I wasn't too serious until the past year or so.
fluffernutter

Wow for a first year player that is pretty good. I playing since I was a little kid and I am at a 4.5 -to 5.0 level and I am 14.
Benchwarmer1

ok i know i totally dragged this off topic, but what is it that makes dri-fit so special?
x.doublea

The material absorbs sweat very quickly while remaining light weight. However, DriFit does have a small weakness: it tends to cling onto the skin. Hence, Nike Sphere was created.
fluffernutter

Well the best part about it for me is it is sooooooo comfortable and it keeps the sweat down to a minimum.
Benchwarmer1

how much is that kind of stuff?
x.doublea

I love Nike Sphere because it does everything Dri Fit does, but it doesn't cling to the skin. A few times, I had become annoyed at Dri Fit because I was sweating and the shirt began to cling to my skin....
