Yeah, but what goes around comes around.... I am sure things will change again for the better. Can't get any worse!

I always find it interesting or sort of pathetic that the Americans do well for a change and then people say they're not on the way down. Very few if any of top European, etc. players are coming to the States until the 2 TMS. That's just the way it is. So if Roddick or some one else from here wins a small tournament, that's nice and all but not a great judgement of when you'll have to play the big boys. Look at Roddick's career. Most of his career titles have been in smaller events. The guy hasn't even won a TMS, let alone a major, since '04. So even though I'm pulling for Blake and Ginepri to have a good summer, a lot of their results are misleading 'cause they're not really playing many players of note. Not their fault, but then again most of the Americans don't bother to play much during the lengthy clay court season.

Well, that's been happening to almost everyone besides Federer and Nadal right now...if I'm correct, the last time an American won a TMS was Agassi in Cincinnati 2004. So, really only Federer have won the big events in the past two years....
You're right though, Roddick and Blake win most of their matches vs. no names....

I think Blake fully deserves his high ranking and has been able to win in places other than the USA. He won Sydney beating some tough opponents, and has beaten Nadal twice in the past year. He beat good claycourt player Almagro at the French Open and got to the Queen's final. He is a genuine top player showing he has improved on all surfaces. Roddick and Agassi were of course top players but now get most of their results against weaker players. Now all the main events are dominated by Nadal and Federer.

I guess so, but I guess Blake hasn't made a huge name for himself yet, despite his US Open vs. Agassi and his Indian Wells run to the finals. There's room for improvement for Blake, in my opinion. Perhaps a strong run at the US Open?

i think women's USA tennis is way worse than Men's USA tennis. Lindsay davenport and Jennifer Capriati are nearly retired, and venus and serena are already 25 and 26. Theres really no great promising players, we have a few solid players, but solid players are diffrent than grand slam champions which besides for capriati, serena, venus, and lindsay we have none of.

Well, America has more female single grand slam winners at the moment who aren't retired...the men only have two: Agassi and Roddick.

Jackson could very well win a Slam one day, she is improving faster than the likes of Ivanovic, Groenefeld, Golovin, and Kirilenko. The ony people around her age imprtoving faster are Sharapova, Vaidisova, and Kuznetsova. The rest of the newcomers seem to be slowing down, Jackson is speeding up. Her straight set win over Sharapova on grass is a bigger win than most of the teenagers and early twentys somethings biggest wins. Perry is also someone with a bright future, she is probably the best up and coming claycourter in American, she has an impeccable slide on the dirt, a mean slice which granted won't help her on clay but will help her on grass, a big forehand, and good volleys. I have compared her to Mauresmo with her variety and backhand. They could very well win Slams one day. People with variety give Sharapova trouble, something that they both have, and Vaidisova is too hot headed to pick to win a Slam one day. The other newcomers are slowing down and losing the shine they once had.

I think in terms of good upcoming men and women it's about the same. Some solid players coming up but a question mark if they can be the next Aggasi or even Roddick
