my school tennis season is underway and i am going to be playing nearly all doubles.....in practice, i cannot get my topspin into play very much because of the topspin on the ball, so should i slice all the time or try to hit topspin? my coach says that slice is good in doubles because the ball is staying low, but im afraid that i will not be able to hit topspin very well if i do this....so should i hit slice all the time in doubles? or practice taking the ball early?

I think it has to do with getting a good approach shot to get to the net; a good approach shot can be topspin or slice. However, I think that in doubles, taking the ball early is extremely important, meaning, volleying more. But, we have to remember Pascal and Sanchez (I think) won three out of four women's doubles Grand Slam titles in 2004 by hitting loopy topspin shots.
So, hitting the slice exclusively isn't necessary; being on the offensive and taking the ball early is.
(Personally, the slice is good for singles too.)

agreed. slicing is very important for doubles for approach shots but you also can hit very effective approach shots with topspin as well. practice taking the ball earlier. I don't usually play doubles but have had to before (FYI, I am homeschooled but I haven't always been, I am on good terms with the school and am allowed to play on their tennis team). you must mix it up. if you are always slicing it will in the long run become ineffective because the other team knows what you are going to do.

You mean Suarez?...yeah they are a great team, I dont know where Suarez is though...
In doubles, slice isnt always the way to go. If you are capable at net, then try and join your partner at the net, but you dont really need to hit just slice to approach, especially on a hardcourt where it lands high. Use topspin to create angles and get the other team off the court. It is very hard to keep the ball low on a hardcourt, and by slicing it you may just give them an opportunity to approach the net.
