[Season] (Day 44) PSALT's Preview: Federer Masters Cup
Geneva, Switzerland is the host of the fifth most important event in tennis, the Year-Ending Championships. Played on a fast, indoor hardcourt, the event is historically dominated by power players, some people like Tricatrina have complained saying it should be changed every year, but we don’t care about the opinion of chokers, so moving on. This event has been a huge milestone, three under-20 players have qualified, 6, 7, and 8. This the official grouping,
Group A
Jennacourt (Wimbledon Champion)
Bizet (Wimbledon finalist)
PSALT (Aussie and French Open finalist)
NEA (Aussie, Wimbledon, and USO quarterfinalist)
Both will be interesting, but A seems to be a little more exciting. Bizet always finds his best tennis here, and Jennacourt usually plays well here too. NEA and PSALT could very easily create some upsets of their own. In Group B, Trinky will not win a match so don’t worry about her. Child will likely do well, but could be upset by either JoJo or Dave.
Like last year I have a Q&A with the qualifiers. Here you go,

Goal for next year
Win the U.S. Open and be #1!
Q. Many people say you are not deserving of your ranking, that you took it only because the top players were in poor form. Thoughts?
Jennacourt:
That's just not fair to say that. I mean it's not like I just got points for playing a lot. I beat players like Bizet in the finals of Wimbledon, who plays his best on grass. I've won many titles this years beating really good players along the way. Unless nobody has been playing well all year then that's really unfair for people to keep saying that.

Q. You are seen as a diva, and one diva is best at finding another, so do you think Jbors is a future "I am not a tennis star, I am a star" kinda person?
Child:
Lol. He certainly couldn't think any more highly of himself. I don't really know anything else about him though, so until he start joining me in the players lounge of tournaments I play in, I can't really say.

Q. You have had a very poor season, what has happened to you? Will you revive your season here?
Bizet:
Well I've always done it here in the past! This place is very special to me and I will always love playing at the Master Cup. It will be extra tough this year because I haven't had a really great indoor season like previous years. I have not had the greatest season by any means, but I was at #1 in the beginning of it and that is a huge accomplishment. I hope that my season gets better here and I will be fighting my hardest for every win.

Q. What is the update on your retirement? After this event, after the Aussie, what? Or have you backed out of it entirely?
Edelstein:
I never said I would retire, just letting the world know that I'm getting older. I don't know when, next year will definitely be my last season.

Well I think everyone knows it's Vanessa Child and I, both on and off the court.
Goal for next year
To win the French Open like I should have the past few years .
Q. A poor season as a whole for you. Still no French title, and you didn't defend your USO title. What reason do we have to think that will change here?
Tricatrina:
Well I never give up and this will be just the same. I did get to the finals of the U.S. Open, but I jsut didn't play my best in the end. I know I should be ranked higher than I am now and my goal is to change that with this last event of the year.

Win a Slam and beat NEA at least twice, with at least 3 bagel sets.
Q. You sit atop the rankings when it comes to players from your generation, and have been as high as #5. How big is that for you?
PSALT. It’s big. I was never considered the “top member”. I have shown however that NEA is not the best member, and was largely overrated in the dawn of his career. There were so many “Great British Hope” kinda headlines; I have shown his up however.
Q. What are your thoughts on Jbors? You are his Team Cup teammate, and must know his better than most on tour.
PSALT. He comes of big-headed, but he does it to tick of Stevos. That’s it. Stevos is like a 13 y/o girl, it’s very easy to set him off. You have to see him, he just sits there in the players lounge balling, even if he wins matches. He’s a long-running joke for players on tour. Jbors just messes with him more than most.
Q. Who will come through the groups, and who will win it all?
PSALT. Bizet and I from Group A, and Child and Dave for Group B. I will beat Child in the final.

Goal for next year

Q. You revived a dying season indoors. Will your form continue?
A. I think it will. I don't see why it wouldn't. But who knows? Nobody can read the future, you would be out of a job if they could, so I really couldn't tell you but I am guessing it should.
Q. You were a little hot over the fact that Dave got, in your eyes, a easier draw. What is the problem?
A. The bottom line is Dave had a worse season than me this year, overall he was a slightly worse player. He got less points and didn't do anything that would put him above me. For example, I would rather have j-mans year than mine - winning the French Open - but certainly not dav's. He is lower than me yet got an easier draw. The British people want to see me dominating that YEC field, not him. I wish him the best of luck, though he really doesn't need it with that ludicrous draw.
Q. Who will come out of each group, then who will win it all?
A. I think PSALT and Jennacourt will advance from A, dav and Vanessa Child advancing from B. I think and hope V wins it for me, she is the best player in the World when on song.

Q. You have struggled for a while now. Will you find your best tennis here, on a surface that isn't your best?
I have been struggling recently, but I got some form towards the end of the season. I have had a good rest and I am in the YEC, so I only go into the tournament with positive thoughts. I am confident after a very good season and I am delighted to be playing. I think Hardcourts are my best surface, and I played very well on them this year. I have worked hard to get here and I want to have a good showing.
Q. You are one of two Brits here, that has to be a record for a nation that is accustomed to having, maybe, one player having even moderate success. Are you both the "hero's" over in the UK?
I think when this tournament starts, people everywhere will realise that we are world class players. To have two players in the YEC means Britain is a very strong country right now. We have had some bad patches this year, but now that we are both in the YEC I think it confirms we are both top players.
Q. Who will come out of both groups, and who will win it all?
I think both groups are tough. In Group A, I think Bizet will come out on top followed by PSALT. Bizet as had a great season. Even though he hasen't been very strong recently, he always seems to do well here at this tournament. In my group, it is harder to tell. All of the matches will be very tough, but I think Child is the favourite. I think she will win the whole thing aswell.
