PSALT

[Season 4] (Day 33) PSALT's Preview: U.S OpenPlayers will compete under the lights of New York in the last Major of the year. Yodavitch comes in as the favorite with a stupendous USO Series. The likes of Child, NEA, Stroganoff, and PSALT are other in-form players thought to make runs. Child has a tough draw however, her slow starts in matches at the beginning of events is often talked about, and is one of the reasons she doesn’t have more Slam to her name. She will have to be playing well to get out of a tough RD16 (J-man and Leftys are looming there), then will have to play great to get out of her quarter, where she could possibly meet the only player than can truly say they own Vanessa Child, Stroganoff. Yodavitch has a tricky draw as well; he could meet Benchwarmer in the RD16. Benchwarmer has been in good form in the smaller hardcourt events lately, and is capable of pushing Yodavitch if he is underestimated. Yoda will also play the winner of a mouthwatering encounter between Dave and Doublea in the quarters.
NEA was looking to make a deep run here after some very positive results on hardcourts, his hopes seem to be dampened when he saw his draw. In his RD16 is Agassi (a player he has always struggled against) and JoJo, he player that NEA said to watch out for a few weeks ago. If he makes the quarters however, I can see him going through. He will beat Jenna handily if she makes it through, Stevos is the only person I can see challenging him in that match. Wrapping out the top 4 seeds is Trinky; she is not expected to go far. She will have trouble with Mollusk in the RD16; Mollusk has been in-form for the entire season. Then she will likely meet PSALT in the quarters. She lost to him 4 and 4 in France last week.
Matches to Watch
Leftys-J-man: RD32
This was thought 2 years ago to be a future legendary rivalry. Together they dominated the Tier IV’s. They have both cooled greatly. The rivalry will be started back up once again as they meet in the RD32, both looking to get a shot at Child. Leftys is the favorite, she will likely beat an out of form J-man. While J-man has, to be frank, sucked for a while now, you never know with him. He still might come out finding the lines.
Agassi-Edelstein
Edelstein will return to the spot if his first Slam title. If he will make another great run, he will need to get back a strong challenge in Agassi. Agassi has never won the titles and accolades his peers have, but is known as a ‘Giant Killer’ for a reason. He is more than capable of beating Edelstein, in what may be John’s last USO.
I have interviewed two players for my preview, NEA and Yodavitch.
Q. You are the hottest player, not looks obviously, on tour. How do you rate your chances to take the USO title?
Yodavitch:
(laughs) You know I'm just taking it step by step. I've had a great summer and to finally beat Vanessa in a final was huge for me. I don't want to ruin my hopes but I think I definitely have a chance at this title. The U.S. Open has never been my best in the past, but of course this year is different on so many levels. I'm excited for whatever happens!
Q. You are not the most popular person on tour. Young Agassi however adores you. His love borders on an obsession with all things Yodavitch. What do you think of him?
Yodavitch:
Really? I've never heard anything about that...well I'm glad he likes me. I try to be a likable person; don't really like confrontations too much. I think his game is solid but still developing. He has a nice serve and volley game, which is very effective on fast courts. He could work on his backcourt game and movement though if he ever wants to be a threat on clay. I should talk though right? (laughs) You make it sound like he loves me though....where did you get this information?
Q. How is your back lately? No more problems?
Yodavitch:
My back has been feeling great since Wimbledon. I felt it a bit afterwards because of my heavy season, but the rest of the summer has really been fine. Let's just hope I can get through the rest of the year.
Q. Who do you see winning this title?
Yodavitch:
I think Vanessa is always going to be the toughest to beat. You have no idea what she does in some of these grand slam matches. She's definitely the favorite. I think though I have a good chance as well; it's likely that if I reach the finals I will be playing her once again. Not_Even_Amateur will be in my way though. We had a great match the other week in a final and it was a very close match. I believe he will get through his quarter. Look out for Stroganoff too. She is in fine form I think.
NEA
Q. You constantly bitch, complain I mean, about your Slam draws. What do you think of this one?
As usual: awful. I am ranked 3rd due to my great performance over the course of this season. It is a privilege to be the third best player in the world; a position I have held for a lengthy time and with a lengthy distance. Yet what benefits do I get for this Slam? None. I would, ironically, be better off being ranked 4/5 and having PSALT's luck. That whiner has managed to draw Jbors and Tricatrina. A dream come true. Meanwhile I have a bag full of tricks that are just waiting to go off and spoil my Grand Slam run...marvelous!
Q. Are you paying any attention to the PSALT-Jbors RD16? You have shown contempt for both, will you watch to see the 'current boyfriend-the ex'?
No. As I have previously said Jbors is the least interesting person I have ever had the displeasure of meeting in my entire life. His egotistical mania bores me senseless; his tennis is also unattractive and really quite poor. PSALT is quite interesting to watch sometimes but I think his and leftys relationship is more of a convenience rather than an actually reality, if you get my drift.
Q. You said that we should all watch for John here. He is in your quarter, how worried are you of him?
Very.
Q. Who will win this Slam?
As I said before; a man from England. But I take that back. The draw completely throws that out of the window. PSALT will win it.
