PSALT

[Season 4] (Day 13) PSALT's Preview: Coria Claycourt Masters

Coria Claycourt Masters is the next stop for the tour. Known for it’s beautiful claycourts, that alone attracts many people. Quite possibly the most prestigious clay event besides Roland Garros, it always has a good draw. The top two in the world, Child and Jennacourt, are both present. Another top five player, PSALT, has also entered. Four other top ten players have come to Argentina. One late entry has also come to my attention for the first time, sliding, Doublea. Doublea, who was playing like a top three player on clay last season, has done some things on clay this season, but still needs to recapture some magic to win. Matches to watch,

Dave-Stevos – Dave was the Aussie finalist, but hasn’t been able to do anything since. Stevos has been one of the hottest players on tour. They both are capable claycourters it could go either way.

PSALT-Avolt – Avolt is a natural claycourter, yet still isn’t great at upsets. PSALT has improved on clay, he is quite close to getting his game clicking, but isn’t quite there yet.

I have interviews with Leftys and Tricatrina,

Q. Clay has always been your natural surface. Yet you never seem to be able to win Roland Garros. You are asked the same question every season, will you finally win it this year?

Tricatrina:
I think I will win it this year. I skipped the Williams Series eto start warming up for the clay season, so I'm pretty confident right now about my chances at the French.

Q. You will face fellow American Jbors in your first match, thoughts on that match? Do you feel threatened by his aggressive gameplan on clay?

Tricatrina:
Not so much. The only ball basher who gives me trouble is J-man, and he gives everyone trouble. I think I can get into his head.

Q. Let's get your thoughts on the tour. What will happen on clay this year? Will J-man defend his title? Will young PSALT live up to the (unwanted) hype that has surrounded him this clay season? Will NEA recover from a choke-filled clay court season from last year? Tell us.

Tricatrina:
I think I will win a couple of titles and the French Open if I can stay healthy. N_E_A will surely win a title or at least make a final of one of the biggies. And Vanessa will probably win something too.

Leftys.

Q. You are coming off of your first ever Tier II title, yet still have John Edelstein in your first match. Comments on that match?

Leftys. Ah, I just noticed that though I won the title, I didn't move anywhere in the rankings. Oh well, it isn't a very big deal. Um, I have never beaten him before, so i'm excited that I have another shot at him, and having come off a win will of course make me feel much better against him. But I don't have any points to defend during the claycourt season, so I will just come out swinging just like I said I would at the beginning of the season.

Q. In your final against Stroganoff, the Russian fell twice. While the second was on match point, she says that the first fall greatly hurt her chances. She goes on to say that if she had not fallen, the outcome would have been a different story. Did you notice a drop in play after her fall?

Leftys. Obviously, the fall must have distorted her rhythm and etc. but I felt it was important to not let my concentration drop even though she was injured. However, I must point out that I still won the first set without a fall. She can have her own opinions and such, but I felt that I would have won the final even without her fall.

Q. PSALT has been getting attention this clay season. Even though just two seasons ago he hated clay, he is currently considered the front-runner for the French (his stout rival NEA has already proclaimed he thinks PSALT will win it). What do you think?

Leftys. He is having an unusual season. The early part of the season, he had quite a few strange losses, so it's a little odd to be the favorite for a grand slam. But he's managing to pull together some wins now, so while I’m not sure whether he can pull it off, I think he can most definitely compile some excellent result. I will not be surprised if he wins, but I won't be surprised either if he doesn't.

Q. A certain unnamed fellow (we shall call him Canadian Stevos) mentioned in his blog that your relationship with Jbors is falling apart. He says Jbors is possessive and you are emotionally unstable, thoughts? It will obviously be hard to have a relationship if you are traveling so much.

Leftys. He obviously cares about my state and how I am, so he's going to call me a few times. He hasn't really quite been his usual outgoing self though, probably because he wasn't looking forward to this season defending his points. Now, if I was emotionally unstable, I don't think I would have just won the past tournament, would I?
