TENNIS: Congratulations PSALT on your run at the Federer's Masters Cup! You astonished us with your play, and you have jumped into the Top 3 in the World rankings! How does it feel to know that you are one of the best players in the world?
PSALT: It feels great to be among the players I looked up to. Doesn't it have a nice ring to it? PSALT, reigning World #3.
TENNIS: You have somewhat distanced yourself from the other members of the new generation... do you still feel vulnerable to them though? Who do you consider your primary rival, and who do you think should be the one to watch next year?
PSALT: Vulnerable is a funny word. I of course go into my matches with them expecting close matches, that's it. I don't play events to stay ahead of them, I don't really view them that much differently than I would any other players. Of course it is nice to be the highest ranked, but it's not a huge deal to me.
NEA is my biggest rival, and really my only rival. Stevos and I have had words, but it's hard to really create a rivalry with someone who rarely gets out of the first round.
Jbors is the player to watch, he still has a while to go before he can be talked about on the likes of Dave, NEA, and I (among others), but he is catching up.
TENNIS: Jbors47 has been criticized by many for playing only the Teir IV events, and he is well into the Top 20. How do you personally feel about this type of schedualing?
PSALT: He started to play bigger events towards the end of the season. Furthermore I don't think Tier I and II's need to be your regular events until you get closer to the top 10. This is the first year I have played the big events regularly, I expect for Jbors to follow suit sooner rather than later.
TENNIS: Next season, players will practically be forced into playing bigger events due to the implemention of the new separate 'Race' ranking system: the system which determins who goes to Switzerland and who doesn't. The system will be, the Grand Slam points plus the Teir I points plus the points gained from four tournaments which are not Grand Slams or Teir I tournaments. Of course, the traditional entry-ranking system will stay, but do you support this new system? Do you feel it will make things more competetive?
PSALT: I have a 'wait and see' position on the 'Race'. It will be more accurate of who is the best that year, but with that said it rewards player too much for playing large amounts of big events, a la Phobe.
TENNIS: Thanks. Congratulations PSALT, and we wish you the best of luck at the Team Cup and next season!
