This Summer Hardcourt Season has been a busy one for many players leaving them well prepared for the year's final Grand Slam, the US Open in New York.

In the early events, Jennacourt and dav6789 had great runs of form to pick up titles. Jennacourt won the Petrova Cup, following her Wimbledon win. dav6789 won his first Tier 1 event at the Davenport US Champs.

After that, two more players had a strong burst of good form that they haven't had in a while. At the Kuznetsova Classic, Phobe and Not_Even_Amateur had encouraging runs to the final. Phobe beat the in-form Mollusk, who had just won the Blake Summer Hardcourts. NEA had a more impressive win, he stopped the 3-tournament winning streak of top seed Jennacourt by thrashing her 6-3 6-3. Phobe managed to prevail in a tight final 6-4 1-6 6-3. Despite her loss at the Kuznetsova Classic, Jennacourt became world number 1 for the first time. She regained her confidence and raced to the Tier 1 Agassi Open Title in style, losing just 9 games in 3 matches. Her 6-0 6-0 final defeat of Tricatrina was sweet revenge for her, having been humiliated by the same scorline in a final over two years ago.

Many players turned up at the Gonzalez Summer Stars hoping for a nice draw to play there way into the next batch of tournaments. There plan backfired, however, as the tournament had it's best ever draw with 4 top 10 players! dav6789 and PSALT were upset early, and leftys_rock found her way into the final. Phobe repeated her win over NEA in the SF. She won another tough final aswell, against leftys_rock to win her second title of the summer.

There was alot of spotlight on John Edelstein at the Clijsters Classic, not only because he was going for a hat-trick of titles. He had announced he was considering retirement just a few weeks earlier, as his recent form was not pleasing him. He had a rusty first-round win over Aztec, but then eased his way to the title, beating x.doublea, Bizet, and Phobe. Top seed Jennacourt was beaten in straight sets by Avolt. At the warm-up event for the US Open, the Pierce Grand Prix, Vanessa Child took her first title of the summer. She had impressive wins over leftys_rock, dav6789 and Phobe. Agassi2000 and Jbors47 have enjoyed multiple titles this summer, and are dark horses for the US Open.
