[Season 3](Day 30) John Edelstein hints Retirement
John Edelstein has hinted he may retire due to his recent poor results. This season, he has not had the constant good results he usually has, and has been playing a lighter schdule. He had a fantastic start to the season by defending his Australian Open title and having a brief spell at number 1. However, his results have got worse since then. He has only won three titles this season, the last being the Henin-Hardenne Open. He has also dropped to number 4 in the world. After a poor loss in the QF of the French Open, he went on to lose his beloved Roddick Open title to Jennacourt. At Wimbledon, he had a shockingly early exit in the 3rd round, losing to x.doublea. Since then, he has only played one tournament, the Davenport US Champs. He had a tough route through to the SF, but lost to dav6789 for the first time in six meetings. In his recent tournaments, his losses have been to younger, fitter and in-form players. These results have entered thoughts of retirement in his mind. In a press conference, he said,
"I'll be thirty within a year or so and my body is catching up to me. I can't move around the court like I used to, and my body can't seem to take as much days after day. I'm not saying that I will be retiring tomorrow, but I have definately become more aware of my age through my lack of endurance."
John Edelstein has spent a large period of his career at number 1 in the world, and has won 17 titles in the last three years. They include 4 grand slams and 10 tier 1 titles. He had an amazing run of 6 straight grand slam finals, winning the last three of those. The only Grand Slam he hasen't won is Wimbledon. He lost there to Vanessa Child in a classic final two years ago. In Season 1, despite Vanessa Child's utter domination of the tour, he managed to topple her off the top of the rankings and finish as number 1.
