[Season 3](Day 28) Dav6789 Excels in Early Hardcourt Season
Dav6789 picked himself up from a slight lapse in form to record some of his best ever wins. After a brilliant start to the seaosn which took him to the top 10, he had an average claycourt season, and only managed one match win on grass. However, he returned to his favourite Summer Hardcourt Season and things picked up right away!
At the Petrova Cup, he came through a difficult draw to reach his first final since the Williams Series- Serena. He beat former world number 1 Yodavitch, British compatriot Not_Even_Amateur both in straight sets. He then beat the current top player Bizet 6-1 6-4, but was thrashed 6-3 6-1 in the final against Jennacourt. Jennacourt has been in devastating form recently, winning three titles in a row including her first grand slam at Wimbledon. That was her second Petrova Cup title in a row. dav6789 then went to defend his title at the Blake Summer Hardcourts, but fell short in the final against in-form Mollusk, who went on to win the title.
dav6789 then cut his way through a tough draw at the Davenport US Champs. He had previously reached two QF's at his favourite event on tour. In the first round, he came from behind to beat Aztec. Then, he repeated his win over Yodavitch to reach the semis for the first time. He then faced John Edelstein, the defending champion and a player he had never beaten before in 5 previous occasions. He produced another great comeback to win 2-6 6-1 6-3 and reach his third tier 1 final. In the final, he avenged his defeat earlier in the year to Vanessa Child 7-6 2-6 6-1 to win his 10th career title. Child said an injury affected her movement in the final set and she was unable to compete on full terms. This title has brought dav6789 to a career-high of 7 in the rankings.
Jbors47 had the best run of his career so far by winning two titles in a row on different surfaces. He won the Tier 3 Wachovia Classic with a convincing win over Stevos14 in the final. He quickly transferred his game to grass at the Mirza Grass Challenge. He beat the top 3 seeds at the event, including a thrilling win over top seed and defending champion PSALT. Jbors had a great comeback to win 3-6 7-6 6-3. His impressive winning streak came to an end last week at the Li Outdoors, as he lost 6-3 6-4 to Benchwarmer. Agassi2000 went on to win that title. The Li Outdoors still remains a member-dominated tournament, with J-man and leftys_rock the other two champions.
