[Season 3] (Day 42) PSALT's Preview: Mauresmo MastersTwo days is all that remains for players to qualify for the YEC. As of now Dave and NEA are fighting it out for the 8th spot, Dave is not present. NEA on the other hand is, he needs a semi to pass Dave for #8. That is very possible when you look at NEA’s draw, Avolt then, likely, Phobe. Let’s talk about the whole draw though. Child is the top seed and defending champion, she is in the weaker top half, so she will likely reach the final. In all truth however there are about 6 players who have a legitimate chance to win this title. I have the ever growing feeling that is will be a player from the younger generation. So, matches to watch include,
Phobe-Jbors – Phobe, a contender for the YEC could almost completely crush NEA’s hopes for a YEC berth by beating him in the quarters. She has a tough opener however, Jbors. Jbors who has to have put Stevos on anti-depressants by now, upset Bizet in Argentina, and will look to put another feather in his hat.
Doublea-Agassi – Two players who have been tipped to win Wimbledon for years now will face each other. Doublea is the more accomplished player, but Agassi is the sleeping giant of the tour. Do you remember when he took JoJo to 7-6 in the third at Wimby in Season 1? He is capable of things like that, but does them rarely.
J-man-Ying-Chang – Two nut cases will face off. J-man who is always compared to Marat Safin, and Ying-Chang who has some serious issues. J-man who is either “off or on” has been “off” since Roland Garros. He is always capable of beating anyone, but you have to wonder when his little light switch is ever going to turn back on.
I have an interview with YEC contender, and resident word I am not aloud to say in front of young ears (it starts with a B in case you are wondering), NEA today,
Q. You have slipped to # 9 in the world; it is now or never so to speak for you. Will you qualify?
NEA. I don't know on this one. Dav managed to pass me in the rankings without winning ONE match, this is ludicrous. He is only 10 points in front and Phobe is not much ahead. So, realistically, I could lose in the Round of 32 or the Quarter-Final here and the gap between dav and I would be the same. I don't think this tournament is now or never but is definitely pivotal. If I can beat Phobe in the Quarterfinal I think I will qualify for the YEC, if I lose at the Quarterfinal stage or worse, I will have to be lucky to reach the YEC!
Q. A certain player, whose name I will change to "Stevos" for his protection (I can easily get you "Stevos" address if you wish to cause bodily harm), says you cry, "Woe is me" for attention, thoughts?
NEA. Interesting. "Woe is me". I suppose I say what is on my mind a lot more than other players. If I suddenly lose to Aztec then woe is indeed me and therefore I will have a bit of a moan. It is not for attention though, I get enough of that without trying, I would probably rather not have it!
Q. You are so articulate with your insults; I must ask you your thoughts on young American Jbors. He is called cocky, pompous, Spawn of Satan, a walking dead man (thanks ever so much for that one Stevos!), what do you think?
NEA. Jbors is like a young child who just got told by their Mother they are really clever for acing their timestables. He now thinks he can conquer the world because he has won a few Tier IVs. He can't. And he won't. The sooner he realizes that everybody has gone through this stage - except without the delusion of suddenly becoming the world's best player - the better for himself and for the tour. He also has this strange obsession with stevos14, I don't know if he is in the closet or what but he is a disillusioned creature who needs to get a hold of himself!
