[Season 3] (Day 41) PSALT's Preview: Berlin International
Another stop in the long trek of big Tier events before the YEC, the Berlin International will commence tonight. There are 9 days between the USO and the YEC, 7 of those days contain Tier I’s or II’s. Needless to say at least one of these events take a blow each year. The Berlin International is that event. Only 3 top 10 players are present, and only 6 of the top 15 are here in Berlin. A weak draw all-around and not too much to talk about. There are a few possible ranking changing events here though. First of all, Tricatrina, she is the defending champion. If she loses early here she will slip even close with in the reaching distance from PSALT, Phobe, NEA, and Dave. Another, more interesting development is Dave. Unless my calculations are incorrect, he will jump over NEA in the rankings when they are released after this event regardless his result, a quarter is suffice. Now, I will not point out interesting first rounders because there truly aren’t any. Ok, I will do interviews now. I have a longer interview section than normal, Leftys, Dave, and then a couple of question for Stevos and Jbors. I will post Stevos text message first,
"You little hothead! 'Wow, look at me, I'm Jbors, I made the semis of the USO'! You know what, who cares? No one! Quit rubbing it in to the other players when you win your stinking tier IV's. Do you think there's any glory in that once you get to MY level? None at all, you just get criticized for "cheating the system". So go run along and win the Bulgarian Open for all I care, no one will remember next week! And I'll be sitting here waiting for you to hit a slump, and then we'll see who's laughing. Hahahaha!!!"

Stevos’ ranting over Jbors,
“Jbors? Oh yeah, we definitely aren't on great terms. We have had several heated debates but I know why he's targeting me. I am in the news, making headlines (for whatever I may be doing) so he knows he will get the spotlight if he goes after me. Pretty childish. Someone needs to deflate him fast or he'll end up like Yodavitch. Yikes...
And about that text, lets just say I was, umm, never mind. Leave that off the record please.”
Jbors,
“I am really starting to get creeped out by Stevos. He still calls me. I have changed my number several time, even had his number blocked, but he still found a way to get a hold of me. He isn't silent anymore at least. He just yells for about 30 seconds and follows it up with about 30 seconds of furious sobbing. I kind of feel bad for the big guy, not being able to win any big matches and all. It’s got to be tough for him”
There you go, I will of course update this when other things happen. For now let us go on to the official interviews, Dave first,
Q. You have a chance to pass NEA in the rankings, a tough draw though. Will you do it? Will you make a deep run?
I'm don't really know, I'm just trying to play my game right now. There is no pressure on me. NEA has done well recently, but there are others who can drop out of the top 8. I am feeling better than I was before so I think I can make a run.
Q. PSALT won in Argentina, Phobe made the final, do those runs as good as give them automatic spots?
I don't know again. They have been in-form recently, but they still have points to defend.
Q. What are your thoughts on Jbors? He is the hot topic around tour now. Is he too cocky?
He does seem a bit too cocky after his US Open run. I understand it after beating the world number 1, but now it has got a bit out of hand.
Q. They have not clarified if they are joking or not, but Stevos and PSALT seem to think you are desperate enough to cause bodily harm to qualify, thoughts?
No I'm not. The only one I would harm is Vanessa Child and it already looks like she's qualified so not this year.

Q. After an explosive start to the season, a Tier I in Australia, you have struggled greatly. You slipped from the world’s top 15 for a good amount of time, and have never recaptured that spark. What has happened to you?
Leftys. I think the pressure of having won a Tier I (my first really big title), kind of got to my head a little. I felt that I had to do better at all the better events to prove my Tier I. Now, I’m still not quite up to the level I would like, but I’m doing much better. SFs at Tier Is are nothing to be ashamed of.
Q. You started your career off as a gritty player that truly wasn't good at anything. Over your couple of years on tour however, you have become a much more aggressive player. What has prompted the change for a bigger serve, better volleys, and just being an aggressive player in general?
Leftys. Well I realized that it would be very difficult to get consecutive wins with just grit. There needed to be a way to win points faster, win quicker, get off the court quicker, and to do that, you need to shorten points.
Q. I must ask you? How is your relationship with Jbors faring? Is it still the hottest relationship on tour?
Leftys. It's going pretty well, it's a little hard keeping a relationship with all the traveling to different countries, but I try to call him every day. Now, the hottest relationship on tour, I’ll leave that for you to decide.
Q. Speaking of Jbors, what is your opinion on him? Is he too cocky? What about Stevos? Jbors now claims Stevos keeps calling him, even finding his number when it is changed, screaming at him, and then furiously sobbing for 30 seconds or so. Do you agree with the consensus that Stevos "isn't quite all there"?

Do you agree with the consensus that Stevos "isn't quite all there"? The rivalry has really gotten down and dirty. It could be toned down a little, like they should show respect to each other, in my opinion. Both can tone it down a little, but it's all up to them. Now, I doubt that Stevos has gone quite far, but obviously, I can't confirm that. But I’m pretty good friends with Stevos, he plays with passion and from the heart, so he tend to be a little emotional at times. I guess this rivalry is a majority of fired up emotions from both sides. Nothing really else to explain it. It's a great rivalry, but it would be nice if it could be kept on the court instead of bothering the other players while they're enjoying their off court activities.
