[Season 3] (Day 37) PSALT's Preview: Sharapova Cup
Hello! 8 of the top 10 are present here in the Sharapova Cup; other top names are present as well. Really just about every first round match promises to be interesting. It also promises to be interesting because player like NEA, PSALT, Dave, Doublea, Phobe, and J-man are all present. They all have shots for the YEC, and all promise to fight ‘till the death to get there. Furthermore they all have tricky first rounders, NEA is the hottest of the bunch right now, but he is far from the most comfortable carpeter in the group. This event became famous for having scantily clad models be the ball girls, this year it is adding a “Shrieker Competition”, the person who can shriek the loudest while hitting a tennis ball is promised a day out with their favorite tennis star. Naturally American PSALT tops the list in who is wanted most, followed by NEA and Leftys_Rock. Enough of that however, it is time for my players gossip. A well-followed feud between Jbors and Stevos has been going since before the USO. Apparently young Stevos sent a text message to Jbors, of which nature I will beat out of Stevos (did I say that out loud?). Jbors is filing a restraining order against Stevos who Jbors says calls him constantly only to breath into the telephone, he also says Stevos sends him pictures of himself (Jbors) with the head cut off, along with other drama only those two could produce. More on that in a later preview, now on with the preview. It is time for me to start talking about the event; here are some matches to keep our eye on. Doublea-Stevos, they have met once before, a match Doublea won, and they are both from the tennis-challenged nation of Canada. They of course have a huge rivalry for the top spot in Canada, and even though Stevos has been struggling you would be silly not to think he will not put up a fight against his older compatriot. Dave-Leftys, the head-to-head between these young talents is 4-3 in the lady’s favor. She also has the better carpet game; nevertheless Dave is surely boiling over that bad upset in Croatia. Then I will point out one more, J-man-JoJo. JoJo who is contemplating retirement will play his first match since the USO against J-man. J-man has been far from good since the USO, but what is between his ears is the only thing holding him back. Speaking of J-man, I have an interview with him, enjoy!
Q. To put it lightly, you have been horrid since the French. Too harsh? Why should I care? On with the interview. What has happened?
J-man. Ha! PSALT you don't have to be such an ass I have not been my best I've made a good few results though. But I think after my FO win I became to harsh on myself to do well in the Summer hardcourt season and after every loss I've been getting negative.
Someone needs their mouth washed out with soap….
Q. What is your opinion on young Jbors whose head has swollen to the size of a small blimp? Is he setting himself up for a huge collapse in the future?
J-man. Jbors is a very good player. He's becoming more complete as he trains. He has a good coach and if he continues to play and do what he has been doing I think he will do well in the future.
Q. You are ranked 11; do you think you have a serious shot for the YEC? Do you have it in you do really win a Tier I and more to make that push?
J-man. I think we all know my shot for YEC is quite slim to be quite honest and fair to myself. I have the motivation to make a push. It depends on which J-man shows up. The bad J-man. Or the big hitting J-man.
Q. Q. Let's look ahead to the Team Cup, you have committed already, does Australia have a surface in mind? Or has it not been discussed? It must be a lot of pressure to be the two-time defending champions. Team USA seems to be the hot team however....
J-man. Me and Lefty Rocks have not discussed plans on World team cup. Though it has been on my mind lately!! There is a ton of pressure on us this year since we are 2 time defending champs. But Lefty's is a great positive player and looks at every situation with a silver lining.
Q. Who are your 8 YEC qualifiers?
J-man. Hmmm... my YEC picks. Me!!!! I can see the Top 8 staying like it is. But I checked the rankings on line while I had time on the computer in between practice sessions and I saw it is a tight race between PSALT and Dav. I will have my eyes glued to the screen to see what happens there.
