[Season 3] (Day 10) PSALT- TENNIS Magazine

TENNIS Magazine: Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down and talk with me PSALT. To start with, how are you feeling about your game right now?

PSALT: I feel very good about it. I think my game has really come along, I think I have the game now to beat anybody. I have a game that should translate well to any and all surfaces. People are always saying I am so bad on clay, but I feel that is not the case. Clay is not my best surface but I have got good results on it with two finals and almost beating one of the best claycourters in the world in NEA at Roland Garros last season. I am planning to really focus on clay this season, I will not be playing any desperate hardcourt events to avoid it either.

TENNIS Magazine: You raise a few interesting points yourself which I wish to question you about. You mention NEA and his great claycourt ability, how do you feel he will do on clay this season? He has really talked up his expectations, do you think he could be letting himself in for a big surprise? Also, you mention "desperate hardcourt" tournaments, do you feel this is a wrong tactic? I know NEA and others have come in for fire in the past when avoiding the grass season, do you think this is tarnishing precious parts of the calander?

PSALT: NEA is one of the best claycourters in the world, quite possibly behind only Tricatrina at her best. He could very well defend his many points, but then again he has an ambitious claycourt schedule like always and he could easily drop out of the top 10.

I don't have a problem with one last "desperate" event, I mean you are still used to that surface so you might as well use that to get some more points and a title. It's when people, like NEA in particular, skip seasons all together. NEA has played like 3 grass events in his entire career. I think most of the other players are fairly willing to play on other surfaces than their favorite though.

TENNIS Magazine: The tour has been completely submerged in controversy over the past few weeks, surprisingly you have had nothing to do with it and have had very little to say, what are your opinions, then, on the ongoing events? Firstly, Chikita Benita's comments on how some of the top players are ruining her chances at the "lesser" tournaments. Secondly, some comments have been made about the Australian Open draw being "dodgy", I know the tournament director was particularly upset at this, what do you make of these claims?

PSALT: Firstly, I think Chikita is bitter due to her lack of results and talent. Whoever told her to pick up a racquet should have been shot, because of that she chooses to take out her frustration on bigger and better players.

I really don't know that much about the NEA incident. So I really can't comment, I do say though, I would not suprise me in the least it NEA let his temper get ahold of him like usual and said something stupid. I don't really know though, I suggest you go to NEA and get the facts.

TENNIS Magazine: Interesting...I remember a time when you had really harsh words for NEA, not so anymore it would seem...?

PSALT: Things have cooled down between us, we aren't having night out together or anything. We have a 'ceasefire' I guess.

TENNIS Magazine: Anyway PSALT, we know the tennis player, shall we get to know the man? Have you any romances on the tour?

PSALT: No romances, I have been turned down by a certain Australian female too many times.

TENNIS Magazine: (laughs) Any close friends?

PSALT: I have close friends, Dave and Doublea are the ones I normally call friends. I am relatively friendly with Leftys_Rock. I have conversations with Jennacourt, but like most huge names on tour she is a loner.

TENNIS Magazine: What about enemies?

PSALT: My rivals always come up when I do interviews. my relationship with NEA is of course always in the papers, "NEA and PSALT in War of Words" or other crap like that. Recently though I am getting more and more annoyed my Stevos. His head is bigger than it should be, he's ranked what? 40-something? Yet flaunts himself like he is No.1 and a 20 time Slam champion.

TENNIS Magazine: (laughs) Thank you very, very much for your time PSALT, I can just see the magazines being picked up off the shelves right now! Finally, would you care to offer your pick for the French Open champion?

PSALT: My pick would be myself.

TENNIS Magazine: And I wouldn't doubt you for a second! Thanks very much PSALT, it has been a pleasure.
