Zurich Press: Vanessa Child, obviously you're very disappointed at the moment. Everyone thought you could have won this grand finale. In that final set, you seemed to have not been moving as well as you usually do. Did you injure yourself? Do you feel you would have won if you weren't hampered in any way?
Vanessa Child: Yes it is a disppointment, but you can't win everything. I have been playing so much tennis lately that in the second I jsut started getting tired, that's all. I couldn't move my feet as well, therefore my movement and passing shots where not up to par. Even my strokes were not as solid because my feet weren't in position all the time. As I said earlier, my main focus is to win the Australian Open, which I have never reached the final in. Bizet played his best tennis and really does get full credit for his win. Obviously I could have put up a better fight in the end, but the past is past.
Zurich Press: You really earned the crowd's support by continuing to fight through, though. Next year, leading up to the YEC, will you do anything different? Will you play the same number of tournaments directly before the tournament?
Vanessa Child: Next season I will have a lot of points to defend before the YEC, so I don't know. I haven't worked out my schedule yet and probably won't do so until later in the season. I didn't defend my final in the Canada right before the tournament to get some rest, but I guess all those match es before that really affected me. Maybe I'll drop one, I don't know yet. The croud really was great this time. Last year I barely got any support but this year there were always at least some people cheering for me, which feels good of course. I will not play until the Australian Open, where I hope to reach the final and win it for the first time.
