Well, the Nadal Clay Championships wasn't too great for me... my second straight match vs. Tricatrina on Monday was a display of her outplaying me, as she won handly 6-2, 6-4. I made some good shots, but I just couldn't come up with the goods to fight her delicate touch today. So, after answering a few press-questions, I promptly took a train to Paris, the centre of romantic cultural diversity. I love it! Everything in Paris is so elegant and perfect.
Since I had so much time in my hands, I, of course, coulnd't resist visiting the Opéra National de Paris's Palais Garnier to watch a production of Gounod's Faust, one of the leading French operas. What was very exciting... I went backstage to talk with some of the singers, including my modern-favourite soprano, Angela Gheorghiu, who played the roles of Marguerite flawlessly, singing the role with her silk-like voice and dramatism.
Of course, I went to Roland Garros to hit with my coach for the rest of the week, as none of the other players had arrived in Paris yet. We worked on depth, dropshots, approaching the net on the soft clay... all the ingredients that require me to be effective on this surface, which is probably my least natural.
Anyways, thanks for reading my blog! I won't be posting one tomorrow (Day 17), since there isn't much to talk about. All I'll be doing is preparing for Roland Garros.
