Nicole Vadisova FO and Venus's chances at FO

How do you like Nicole Vadisova's chances now at FO??I was looking at the draw and if she beat Venus she would ethier play Svetlana Kuznetsova or Dinara Safina in the semifinals.

On the flip how do you like Venus chances now at FO?? She also, if she won her match over Vadisova would play ethier Svetlana Kuznetsova or Dinara Safina. Both would be grueling matches
stevos14

I think the venus/vaidisova match will be like a serena/venus match. Tons of errors and tons of screeching, thats why those big-hyped matches of venus vs serena can get really boring, much better to see venus/hingis or venus/ schnyder is also good, as I get to see venus win every time against schnyder. However I really do like vaidisova so It will be an emotional match for me which are the best ones. I want them both to win, and I think the winner of it will go to the final.
leftys_rock

it would be sensational if there was a vaidisova safina SF.....that would be a real surprise.....if venus keeps her UE's down, she could very well have a run to the final here.....it would be wonderful if she did....a bounce back from the third round loss to karatancheva last year....(even though she was on steroids Rolling Eyes )....should be a fun set of QF's in the top half....
J-man

I think Hingis has a good shot to the finals. She plays Peer (who if I'm not mistaken is down a set but suspened for darkness) who I think she can beat. Hingis can netrualize the power gaem of both players (Vadisova, Venus)
admin

I would absolutely love to see a Hingis-Venus final. Their matches are always sensational and I doubt a grand slam final would be any different.
stevos14

True dat. I couldnt imagine a better tennis weekend, hingis-williams, fed-nadal! That would be one for the history books thats for sure. Im getting excited just imagining it now.
J-man

To tell you the truth I'm getting bored of the Nadal-Federer matches alittle. They are highly entertaining matches but I think it would be more intresting if someone else made it to the finals (Daydenko Nalbandian).

But I can agree on the Hingis-Venus final that would be a womens match I would want to watch! Both of contrasting styles, Power vs a thinker on the court.
Benchwarmer1

i would really like to see davydenko make a final

"I would want to watch" Are you not a womens tennis fan or something? Because I basically want to watch womens tennis any chance I get! BTW why hasnt vaidisova gotten the sharapova treatment? She is equally if not more beautiful than masha IMHO. She has great legs Wink Wink

She is not even close to Sharapova in that regard. She also hasn't won Wimbledon.
x.doublea

Vaidisova might have more talent than Sharapova, though....
stevos14

I know she never won wimbledon or any other GS's, yet, but she beat the world number one, on a huge stage. And you dont think she is as hot as pova? I love her and everything but maria is just a bit too skinny for me, as nicole is a bit more rounded.

Yeah, well i didn't see it, she is pretty hot Very Happy

Oh, yeah, i watch women's tennis
stevos14

Vaidisova is a "hot head" according to Mary "megabitch" Carillo. I saw her get angry with a ballboy for not giving it to her fast enough! I love that fiestyness!
Benchwarmer1

Nice Stevos... Very Happy Laughing
x.doublea

Have you heard of Jeff Tarango before? He's such a snob...he once told a ball boy, "If your going to give me damp towels, at least give me two!"

I read that from a TENNIS Magazine before....
stevos14

Never heard of him before, therefore why does he act so snobbish? He doesnt sound that important!
x.doublea

He's just one of those rude players.... wasn't that great of a player.

You hit the nail in the coffin!! I don't like to watch womens tennis. I find the womens game a bit boring. But that's just me
x.doublea

Women's tennis often has no variety in terms of shots....
Not_Even_Amateur

Enter Mauresmo/Hingis/Henin/Schnyder...forget Vaidisova..zzzzz, yet another of the thousands of drones that are coming out of the WTA Tour. It was good at first now it is just pathetic!
stevos14

Still it is very exciting sometimes on both tours. Vaidisova has a big game, and remember when it was all moonballers? Do you think that was better? Its just the style these days. You dont see THAT many different shots on the mens side either.
x.doublea

The thing is, overall, I think the men have more variety; they can spin it, they can drop shot, and they can (well, some of them) volley.
stevos14

Like NEA said though, hingis, mauresmo can do all of those things as well. Hingis is an amazing volleyer. The WS are excellent volleyers as well. Some, like sharapova/vaidisova are brutal at net, but so are some baseline bashing men.
leftys_rock

brutal meaning really bad at net or swing volleyers?

I don't think Sharapova or Vadisova good volleyers. They might be brutal when it comes to swinging volleys. But textbook volleys, no
x.doublea

Yes. They're good at swing at the volleys to close out points, but they aren't too good at just reacting, not swinging, and deflecting balls....

I think "brutal" meant really bad.
stevos14

They are decent swing volleyers, brutal at net.
Not_Even_Amateur

Yes I agree with your points stevos, but what I am saying is that Vaidisova is NOTHING new, quite simply nothing to her game is new. It is getting tedious now...if a new male player comes through he could be any type of a player...lets review the new bunch:

Gasquet
Monfils
Almagro
Djokovic
Murray

To name only a few, look at the variety there! None of them have the same game really, monfils and murray are similar but it stops there! The same cannot be said for women...the younger players seem to play the same game with little variation here and there! Do you not agree?
stevos14

Sadly I have no evidence to produce a counter-arguement. Its true, the new-comers on the womens side are all quite the same, which is scary for the future. One day someone will break through with a new game, and hopefully many others, to spice it up. The mens younger players do show a lot of potential for good future years though.
J-man

Well I hope more players start to play like Hingis and Mauresmo on the womens side. But alot of young players like the games of Sharapova, Vadisova and all the baseline bashers.

But on the mens side there's some hope. But for the USA as we all know there's not to much. I mean there's Young, BUt he's going to have really hit the gym. Querry just went pro the men's side for the USA. He has big power game. But we'll have to see about work ethic.

anyway back on topic Very Happy Laughing

Well Vaidisova just beat Venus...she is now going on my list of players who I do not like; she has just GIFTED Henin the title, unless Hingis does something amazing. It now means that the probably final is Kuzy v Henin (Henin will walk through that) or even Vaidisova...what is her weakness? Movement. Who is the best player at exploiting weak movement? Henin! Disaster...unless Hingis/Cljisters can SOMEHOW beat the brat then Henin is YET again going to win a RG without facing much resistance! Damn you Vaidisova you took out Mauresmo and Venus the two hopes of stopping Henin in the final! And lets face it...Vaidisova has no chance of stopping her!

you are right, Vaidisova has no chance to beat the Rat. Vaidisova should not even be in the SF! Mauresmo choked, and Venus was hitting errors nonstop (Venus had around 60 for the match). Almost anyone in the top 30 could have won those two matches.

Vaidisova played great tennis. It's pretty obvious that Venus would have beaten her if she played remotely well, but Vaididova did raise her game to meet the occasion. I doubt though that she could beat JHH in the final, as disappointing as that is.
What I cannot believe is that Kuznetsova only lost three points in the final set against Safina! That is insane!
Not_Even_Amateur

JHH is through...she plays Cljisters in the SF! How disastrous, she has walked through this tournament and her toughest opponent will be weakish Cljisters in the SF, so lucky, so sad.
x.doublea

Clijsters might still be able to give Henin-Hardenne a tough time...she's as tough a player as there is.
beachjm

One thing that is so suprising at this year's FO is how Clijsters and Kuznetsova have quietly gone through the draw without a lot of people talking about it. I think that's played to their advantage and I hope they both advance to the final.
stevos14

I would hate a kuzy-henin final, would love the other two to make it. Vaidisova played great today! Sure they were both spraying errors (did you guys see that backhand smash she missed! ARGH!) but vaidisova played well. Almost exact same scoreline as momo-vaidisova. And kuzy has moved quietly. I will be praying for kim on thursday.
J-man

I hope Clijters wins at least one more slam before 2007
leftys_rock

i think clijsters can win the USO again....she CAN win on clay, but she doesnt believe she can......she seems more confident on hards....
