New Equipment

It looks as though two newer string brands have come up with some nice looking products, Pro Kennex has debuted with three new strings. Their IQ Elite will probably be their "flagship" string since the Elite is an arm friendly multifilament, mainly because their primary purpose is to help people with tennis elbow as seen by their claims that their kinetic and ionic racquets are the "Ultimate Solution To Tennis Elbow", but they have also come up with a synthetic gut in their IQ Qualifier, and a co-poly string in the IQ Poly. Another brand that sparked this week is Leopard. Leopard has come up with a new string called the Plus Control, which is a co-poly string that is more powerful than some other polyester based strings.

...Also Kirschbaum came up with a new co-poly as well, the P2 which provide durability and comfort (in comparison to the co-poly strings that are really harsh on the arm)
x.doublea

Leopard must be a new company...is it? I've never heard of it....
Benchwarmer1

Leopard looks like a new company, but the description makes it sound a lot like Signum Pro Poly Plasma.
Benchwarmer1

Although I assume many know about Nadal's strings, a European tennis website has his strings available to the public.

For those that do not know, his strings are called the Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour, and they have taken the concept of the Luxilon 5-star but instead of five sides, it has eight. which makes a lot of sense since Nadal has a LOT of spin. The strings have to help a little i guess

Looks very tempting, when it comes out here in North America I would really want to try that stuff.
x.doublea

It might be interesting, but the question is, is everyone's game an attempt to hit the ball as heavy as possible? I wouldn't recommend it to hard hitters...it's worth a try though.

It's also under another name Duralast. Different names for Europe and America
x.doublea

I got my racquets strung with Wilson NXT Duo today. It's a hybrid between a Wilson polyester and Wilson NXT. It feels pretty good just bouncing the ball up and down...
leftys_rock

They didn't have this string when I went to get my racquet restrung. If I get it strung again, i'll try it out.
Benchwarmer1

Well....
i think Blake's "experimental" has finally made its debut in o3 form. I haven't been on the computer much lately, but i just saw this on TW (sorry, i know its annoying) Prince has debuted their newest o3 racquet the "o3 hybrid tour"

Here's the link (if anyone is interested)
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageRCPRINCE-PO3HT.html
J-man

Thanks for the link Benchwarmer1. Were have to see what Blake plays with at the Open
x.doublea

Thanks Benchwarmer for the link. We'll have to look out for that racquet at the Open, that's for sure. Is Blake using it at New Haven?
Benchwarmer1

a couple of "new" racquets has shown themselves in TW, this time a an offering from Tecnifibre. Both the Tecnifibre 320, and the and the 335 are player's racquets with the choice of either a 16x20 or 18x20 string pattern. The concept is the same for both, a nice midplus racquet (97 sq. inches), just with a weight difference, the 335 is 12.4, while the 320 is is about 11.7, both should be very manuverable with the 320 at 8 pts HL, and the 335 at 10 pts HL.

Link (again) if interested:
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/TecnifibreRacquets.html
x.doublea

Thanks for the heads up. Very Happy The 335 is nevertheless more demanding than the 320 then. 320 suited better probably for serve and volleyers.....

New he didn't use at New Haven. Ethier waiting to debut it at the Open like we stated or it isn't his.
x.doublea

I know this post doesn't belong here, but I couldn't find the proper topic.... Obviously, the new AirFlow racquets aren't too good. At the Kid's Day at the US Open, Graf didn't just not use the AirFlow- she didn't even bother to use a paintjob. Laughing Just used a Radical....
Benchwarmer1

In honor of Andre Agassi's great success during his career, Head has decided to make a commemorative Radical for a limited time.

http://www.head.com/tennis/news.php?region=us&id=228
dav6789

Agassi has been the best ambassador for tennis, and a great help to Head for playing with their racquets. Is anyone on this forum going to buy this racquet?
Benchwarmer1

i would if i had the chance, if i ever see one, i'd probably get it! Very Happy
if the price isn't outrageous Mad
x.doublea

My coach ordered three of those, felt a little generous today, and decided to give them to the winner of our little tiebreak challenge today. And I came one win short... Evil or Very Mad

And the price isn't too expensive. My coach bought them for a discount for only $500. Shocked
x.doublea

Anyways, this is a great way to commemerate Andre's career, reproducing the Radical Tour with his signature. I love how they're making it so authentic too:

...Agassi’s signature on the shaft as well as his Grand Slam titles and the years he won them using the Radical. It also has a blue over wrap and comes with a rubber band tied in the string to dampen vibration (just the way Andre plays it)...

It looks pretty bad. But I will have to play with it to get a real feel for it
Benchwarmer1

although this may not be the most up to date news, Topspin Cyber Flash has made its debut into TW and is another co-poly string focused on control this time

Interesting string... I think this is the type of string which Navratilova thinks is ruining the game, unfortunately. This string is perfectly suited to the aggressive baseliner.

They also have Nadals string in. Which as we know produces lots of spin
x.doublea

The Agassi commemerative racquet is only $179.95! Still expensive, but considering the value of the racquet, it's a great deal.

http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageRCHEAD-AGRAD.html
Benchwarmer1

i wonder if that racquet is strung w/ Agassi's setup?
J-man

Yeah I wish Laughing
Benchwarmer1

well, that would have been cool Embarassed Very Happy
x.doublea

Yes, it would have, but unfortunately, Agassi never used Ultratour....

I'm going to try to persuade my aunt to perhaps get one for my brother and I (please!!!). Hope you guys don't think I'm spoiled. Laughing
Tennis fan

I wish I had an aunt like that.

I could not even imagine asking any of my aunts for something like that!
Benchwarmer1

well, my aunt gave me an ipod Very Happy , but i guess that don't count
Tennis fan

Oh! I got some nice stuff from my aunts too, but there has to be an occasion. I just would not go and ask for a pricey present, out of the blue... Shocked
Benchwarmer1

yeah, that would be pretty random Very Happy
x.doublea

Well, I haven't asked her yet, but I've had a history with her of getting birthday presents early. Laughing Like, if somethings limited edition or something like that, I used to ask her whether she could get me the present now and just not give one when my birthday actually arrives....but, I have to say, and Agassi limited racquet like that would be worth a decade of birthdays!

BTW, how much does an iPod cost?
Benchwarmer1

http://www.apple.com/ipod/
x.doublea

Wow, they're expensive! A 2GB for $199 ($20 more than an Agassi limited edition?).
Benchwarmer1

i know, they're the worst!!

at least i got one for free Smile , although it was the old one
leftys_rock

I prefer Creative mp3 players to iPods to tell the truth. Smile
J-man

Creative are nice. But the thing is I already have Itunes and i don't feel like going off and having to download the new software to download if i were to get a different type of MP3 players. I do like Ipod and I had a Mini for about 2 years beofre the battery died a couple of weeks ago

Ah. I don't have iTunes and I didn't really think I needed a huge music player, so I just got a the Creative Zen.

Benchwarmer1

an interesting one coming from fischer...

after the release of the recent mspeed light, fischer has added another racquet to their magnetic line. the magnetic tour is about 11 oz. (strung), 4pts Head Light, has stiffnes of 58 and so much more found on the link below.
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpageRCFISCHER-FMTOUR.html
x.doublea

I guess the magnitic line is sort of their 'flagship' line right now... interesting. One of those in-betwen players-tweener racquets....

The Classic Sampras shoe. Apparently, it is very low profile, and you feel as if you're actually on the ground when you wear them. Many shoes make you feel as if you're walking on air (or something along those lines).
Benchwarmer1

Agassi's LE Radical has a review on TW

Here's the link: http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/reviews/agrad/agradreview.html
x.doublea

Very good review... I'm really surprised of the high 78 it was given for volleys!
Benchwarmer1

well, it's about 12 oz i was surprised for its high score in control
Benchwarmer1

There's a new o3 in town...

very odd stats though, its a head light racquet with Medium-High power level, odd Confused

anyways, here's the link:

I thought it was an exhibition racquet, like the O3 Pink. Confused

Citron. Laughing Well, look at the length, the beam width, and the head size. It is that of a medium powered racquet...
Benchwarmer1

Well, wilson's new line will be called "K" or something along those lines.
Pics:

all over the other forum (TW) so might as well inform you guys.
leftys_rock

Hmm, thought the nCode was good enough. Loved that line. Produced some absolutely fantastic racquets. Should be interesting when it comes out. I'm looking forward to it! Smile Are they like, copies almost of nCode? Because I see kSix-One Tour on that one.
x.doublea

I wonder what technology 'K' stand for. Who's signature is that?
J-man

I also heard that Mauresmo might be switching to Dunlops Areogel rackets. It's on the TW fourm. It's a rumor though
x.doublea

Well, if it's the latest one, she'll have to switch (or at least look as if she switched).
Benchwarmer1

x.doublea wrote:

i'm pretty sure that's fed's signature
J-man

x.doublea wrote:

The person on the TW fourm posted the link to dunlop sports and it has Mauresmo on the front holding the areogel raceket. Though they're not sure that that is the particular areogel she is going to use
J-man

http://www.dunlopsports.com/ again it was just an observation by the user. We will have to see at AO 2007 Cool
x.doublea

Probably one called the Areogel 300....
Benchwarmer1

some more strings have made their debuts on TW, one by Signum Pro and quite a few from a relatively new brand called polyfibre.

Here's the link for the polyfibre brand:
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/catpage.html?CREF=2132

and for the Signum Pro HEXtreme:
http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/descpage.html?PCODE=SIGPHEX16
J-man

I tried my coaches Leaded up Volkl DX9. I hit well with it. I used it because I am to "wristy" with my backhand causing me to over spin my backhand resulting in zero depth. The heavier racket helped me hit through the ball more and it even improved me forehand a bit. But I mainly worked on backhands. I have a clinic with him tomworro so I'll try it again
Benchwarmer1

are you gonna lead up your radical J-man or just buy a new racquet?
J-man

I'm not sure yet. I would like to lead up the Radical OS first before buying a new racket
Benchwarmer1

More on the Aerogel models from dunlop:
http://www.teamdunlop.de/dunlop-p...tent/content.php&contentid=87
leftys_rock

Hmm...I want to try the Aerogel Fourhundred. Smile Unfortunately, I don't know many places which demo Dunlops.
Benchwarmer1

that's the one i want to try too, looks like the yonex RDS 003 which i want to try too Very Happy

of course, pro's get the good racquets! Wink seriously though, the 03 White feels dead. unless you idea of a good time is standing at the baseline doing nothing but 'Don't you dare get this ball back!!!!!' kinda tennis, it is horrible.

Prince probably makes her tolerate it. "If you don't use this racquet, you're not getting your endorsement bonus this year!" But I thought it would have been nice if she used the Blue or Red.

therefore, it's K-Feds Razz

My mom had something like a $200 free voucher, so she got me the Agassi limited. Very Happy Very Happy In the past, she complained about why I wanted so many racquets ( Laughing ), but I guess she realizes how much value this one can have down the road. I'll post a picture of it later....

I'll probably just hit with it once, just to feel how it plays, and then not use it again. You know, I don't want to wear it down or anything. It's more of a collectors item... not something I want to kill. There are places which still sell the original Radical (not the 'Agassi limited', but the one issued in 1994). But I think I'm satisfied with my Prestiges. Wink
