Lindsay Out Of FO!"Former world number one Lindsay Davenport has pulled out of the French Open with a back injury, organisers said on Tuesday. "I'm very disappointed ... but unfortunately, following my back injury, I haven't recovered all my physical strength," the 29-year-old American said in a statement.
A semi-finalist at the French Open in 1998, Davenport has been suffering from lower back strain since she lost the Wimbledon final to Venus Williams last season. She is ranked seventh in the world."
This is really disappointing. I thought she could have a good run here, and she probably wont go back next year. Its a shame.

Oops, I just realized someone was talking about it in the polls board!

This is a shame, but I am hoping she gets the treatments she needs and the back is back to full strength for Wimbledon where she can really put in a healthy run there for the title.

Ya, I guess its smarter to be more fit for Wimby, since she has a way better chance there. Its not as hard on her old body!

Well at 29 I wouldn't say she is old, but I guess in tennis terms that is getting up there. I just hope no one is saying I have an old body at 29, that would suck.

Yes, grass is clearly a better surface for her...plus, she's won there before.

This is very bad news. I was really looking forward to her comeback next week in Istanbul. I REALLY hope she won't miss Wimbledon.

I hope she doesn't miss WImby too. If she doesn't feel she should though I don't want her to risk it reinjuring herself and ruining her season. Even if she misses Wimbledon she will have a good chance to come back strong during the USO Series.

I agree with that. When she recovers, she should have a great US Open series, and the 2 grand slam events aswell. She managed to do something similar in 2002 when her season started at the US Hardcourt season.
