If I remember correctly, you can right click the image and do a bunch of stuff, like trahsperency. It's been so long I can't remember exactly though. Crying or Very sad

I have no idea about the border thing on Photoshop. Crying or Very sad

i got this free software that can do it for me, i think its called Inkspace
x.doublea

You can definitely do it on Photoshop though... I remember there was this menu-thing where you can add shadows, burns, anything for images. But I can't remember. (I also did the border thing for the letters on Photoshop before... just forgot how).

I found this good website which can possibly help you out:

I'll post some of my first Agassi wallpapers created a few years ago on a program called Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9. Uploading the images now.
x.doublea

Ok, here are the wallpapers. All were made last year, except for the last one, which was made early this year.

These were really the only 'collage'-styled wallpapers I made.

Tell me what you guys think.
leftys_rock

I wish Gimp had those borders. I like it! The collage style gives a very different look to the wallpaper types.
Benchwarmer1

very nice, kicks the crap out of my wallpaper

By borders, do you mean the 'fade out' type in the last wallpaper?

Definitely, they are very different. These were really experimental ones I made for myself. You know, just played around the program.... certainly, I prefer my current ones (especially the Sharapova and the Kirilenko ones). but, looking back, some of those I just posted don't look bad. Rolling Eyes

Like the collage one I just made? I thought that one was my best one. But my friend keeps telling me that the Sharapova one I made earlier looked better. But I think both of those were much better than the earlier ones I made.

And borders, I mean like the last one and the grey ones in the first one.

I think your WTA one is the best of the one you have done, better than the Sharapova one. And, about the border, the ones in the first wallpaper are just dropshadows created with a solid box placed underneath the picture.
Benchwarmer1

in the process of making a young guns wallpaper Very Happy
Benchwarmer1

my litle wallpaper, boviously i didn't put much effort into it Laughing
x.doublea

That's a nice start Benchwarmer!... my god, Baghdatis lost his foot! Wink
Benchwarmer1

i got lazy, i used magic wantd, i told you there was little effort w/ this one Laughing
leftys_rock

Laughing Try hiding it behind Gasquet. I remember in my old wallpaper, Sharapova had the net tape covering part of her leg, so I moved Henin over to cover the leg up. Laughing
x.doublea

Yes, magic wand isn't the best option for sure....
Benchwarmer1

Hey, you reflected the Berdych picture! Wink I'm sure a lot of people don't want to remember that moment. Laughing

Benchwarmer1 wrote:

Hey! Great effort. My only problem is that while you have the three best young stars on the right, you captured that idiotic moment of Berdych... I lost respect for him after that moment and he does not belong in the same picture with the other three
Benchwarmer1

yes, i know the idiot-ness is what made it so effortless

I Don't Know why i put it, i was bored i guess
Benchwarmer1

how's this guys, i got bored:
x.doublea

It's very good... how come centre court is so green though?
Benchwarmer1

i covered it w/ green Laughing
leftys_rock

Do you have a bigger version we could see?

So the wallpaper is that small? Shocked
Benchwarmer1

nope not a wall paper Laughing , its supposed to be an avatar, but i was too lazy to make it a square
Benchwarmer1

much more simple this time around:
x.doublea

Oh, that's very original, Benchwarmer! Wink The 'My Icons' box must be an original idea....
Benchwarmer1

nope, stole it for someone in WTAworld Wink, just thought i'd try it

Just a photoshop question, does anybody know how to add the little star that's in a lot of avatars?
x.doublea

leftys_rock wrote:

If I remember correctly, there's a stamp tool where you can 'stamp' figures onto the image....
leftys_rock

And so when you want to remove the background to a picture without erasing, i'm trying to turn a picture into black and white(no grey), but it doesn't work because what the player is wearing doesn't really accord with the black and white. Is there any other way to do it besides erasing?
x.doublea

Well, no grey is a bit difficult (I think you can adjust the grey scale though).... perhaps you can fill various parts of the picture with solid colours and then turn it into pure black and white.
leftys_rock

Would you suggest this or erasing?
Benchwarmer1

hey, do you want me to change the thread name to something else, cuz it's not just my questions now Embarassed ?
leftys_rock

Doesn't matter, probably just image manipulation questions then. Razz

You mean the text? Convert the text into a graphic, and then use some tool which generates the mirror image of pictures (forgot what the tool is called).

I found that you could type the text in another file, flip the canvas and drag the flipped text into your project.

I downloaded it illegally, so it might be because of that.
Benchwarmer1

how do you reduce the size of a pic? (file size, not the canvas size) b/c that avatar is about 52 and a want to bring it down to 9.8 darn WTAworld

You can do that on Microsoft Picture Manager. Right click the image (as in, where you have it stored), select 'Open With', and click Microsoft Picture Manger. Then, go to Picture --> resize.

Ok... you should be able to resize it on PhotoShop though... you can also use PhotoBucket, I think....
PSALT

I was looking around on my computer, on it is Corel Paint Shop Pro. Is that an image manipulation program?
PSALT

I checked, yes it is. I have have earlier version, but I don't plan on doing much with it anyway. I can resize, crop, and more. It's good for now. Cool

PSALT wrote:

Corel is a very good program. I used it once, and I felt it was excellent. It's actually, in some ways, more straight forwards than PhotoShop.
Benchwarmer1

this is probably my worst avatar in a while, but hey flame away

i just like the text
leftys_rock

Is there another way of making a file size of an image smaller other than reducing the quality?
Benchwarmer1
