If I remember correctly, you can right click the image and do a bunch of stuff, like trahsperency. It's been so long I can't remember exactly though.
I have no idea about the border thing on Photoshop.

i got this free software that can do it for me, i think its called Inkspace
|

You can definitely do it on Photoshop though... I remember there was this menu-thing where you can add shadows, burns, anything for images. But I can't remember. (I also did the border thing for the letters on Photoshop before... just forgot how).
I found this good website which can possibly help you out:

That is a use of this sub-forum, to have threads that wouldn't be put anywhere else.

I'll post some of my first Agassi wallpapers created a few years ago on a program called Microsoft Digital Image Pro 9. Uploading the images now.

Ok, here are the wallpapers. All were made last year, except for the last one, which was made early this year.
These were really the only 'collage'-styled wallpapers I made.
Tell me what you guys think.

I wish Gimp had those borders. I like it! The collage style gives a very different look to the wallpaper types.

By borders, do you mean the 'fade out' type in the last wallpaper?
Definitely, they are very different. These were really experimental ones I made for myself. You know, just played around the program.... certainly, I prefer my current ones (especially the Sharapova and the Kirilenko ones). but, looking back, some of those I just posted don't look bad.

Like the collage one I just made? I thought that one was my best one. But my friend keeps telling me that the Sharapova one I made earlier looked better. But I think both of those were much better than the earlier ones I made.
And borders, I mean like the last one and the grey ones in the first one.

I think your WTA one is the best of the one you have done, better than the Sharapova one. And, about the border, the ones in the first wallpaper are just dropshadows created with a solid box placed underneath the picture.

Try hiding it behind Gasquet. I remember in my old wallpaper, Sharapova had the net tape covering part of her leg, so I moved Henin over to cover the leg up.

Yes, magic wand isn't the best option for sure....

Hey, you reflected the Berdych picture! I'm sure a lot of people don't want to remember that moment.

Hey! Great effort. My only problem is that while you have the three best young stars on the right, you captured that idiotic moment of Berdych... I lost respect for him after that moment and he does not belong in the same picture with the other three

If I remember correctly, there's a stamp tool where you can 'stamp' figures onto the image....

And so when you want to remove the background to a picture without erasing, i'm trying to turn a picture into black and white(no grey), but it doesn't work because what the player is wearing doesn't really accord with the black and white. Is there any other way to do it besides erasing?

Well, no grey is a bit difficult (I think you can adjust the grey scale though).... perhaps you can fill various parts of the picture with solid colours and then turn it into pure black and white.
|
leftys_rock

Would you suggest this or erasing?

You mean the text? Convert the text into a graphic, and then use some tool which generates the mirror image of pictures (forgot what the tool is called).

I found that you could type the text in another file, flip the canvas and drag the flipped text into your project.

You can do that on Microsoft Picture Manager. Right click the image (as in, where you have it stored), select 'Open With', and click Microsoft Picture Manger. Then, go to Picture --> resize.

Corel is a very good program. I used it once, and I felt it was excellent. It's actually, in some ways, more straight forwards than PhotoShop.
