Kournikova has offered to come back to play doubles with Hingis.

If Anna is serious about a comeback, that's great for tennis. But if not, it sounds too much like a pathetic sideshow act to me.

It would be good for the promotion of tennis, but at the current state she's in, I don't think she can do much if she comes back....

I could really care less about Anna. But if she does comeback I want to see her win not only in doubles but in singles too. And it would be funny to see her get her ass kicked by Sharapova

Yes that too

It would be great to see 'the spice girls' (as they were nicknamed) return!
Kournikova is still very young and I think it was bad enough she retired in the first place. She is worse than the Williams sisters. I hope she does come back though and resume that great doubles team with Hingis that brought 2 grand slams and 8 other titles. It would definetely promote the WTA Tour and the doubles game.

yes, any person with variety kicks Sharapova's *ss, we don't need Kournikova.

Ooo, you're funny. Thats why Sharapova won Indian Wells and The Acura Classic and is going to win the US Open? Ohh, I cant wait for september, when your signature really gets good.

she played Dementieva who can play mind blowing tennis somedays but was clearly off her game there. then at the Acura Classic neither Sharapova or Clijsters played well, Leftys is a first hand witness to that. Sharapova just did what she had to do against a struggling Clijsters.
For the USO I promise not to make fun of you when Sharapova loses, ok?
I can't say the same for anybody pulling for Petrova then, NEA and I will be out for blood if anybody hopes she does well.

My take on the match today is that I think that Dementieva could have beaten Sharapova today even if Maria didn't make as many UFE's. Elena was just IN THE ZONE today, moving well, not erring very much. I was like "whew, she closed that out" because it was only on her 7th match point that she won. But honestly, Sharapova cannot play like that at the US Open and expect to win. And also today, something I noticed, I think Sharapova only won 1 point today off of a "conventional" volley(you know what I mean right? not one of those swinging ones). When she has game point or something, she is pressing the net way too much, and is coming in off of the wrong ball. And her approach shots are not good enough for her to get into net. Dementieva had time to pass her, lob her, or just send it right into Sharapova's body and wait for a dump into the net. And great for Sharapova trying to use slice today, but honestly, it's JUST NOT WORKING. I mean, it's really great that she is TRYING to come into net, to use slice, but it is just not working for her. Drop shots were HORRIBLE today, and basically, nothing much went right for her except for a challenge on the baseline and she hit winners on like 5 of the match points she saved.

Dont worry PSALT, I dont think ANYONE would ever want that to happen.
And leftys maybe pova is just trying to work on her variety and drops before the USO, because in last years semi all those drops were BAD news.

Yes, I know what you're talking about, but at the Pac Life Open, Sharapova was coming to net, and wasn't too bad. And I thought that the net play would be great for her in the long run, but it seems that the volleying has deproved actually since Pac Life and I am not so sure now that this will benefit her in the future. Because from what I saw today, she was just not choosing the right times to come into net, and when she did, just dump a volley. And I really don't think that the slice is doing her any good as of right now. Her slice is just not fluid or natural and I don't think it helps her win any points or gets her back into any points.
