Lindsay Davenport, who has not played since March, has withdrawn from next week's Acura Classic at the La Costa Resort and Spa, her agent said Thursday.
Davenport of Laguna Beach was diagnosed with a bulging disk in her lower back during this year's Pacific Life Open in March and has not played since, missing the French Open and Wimbledon. The injury also caused her to withdraw from this week's Bank of the West Classic at Stanford, further slowing her preparation for the U.S. Open.
Tony Godsick, Davenport's agent, said last week that the former No. 1 player was practicing pain-free and was looking forward to playing in Carlsbad. He said in an email Thursday that she now is aiming to return at the JPMorgan Chase Open in Carson on Aug. 7.
Lindsay, I wanted to see you in San Diego. Hopefully i'll see you in LA(if my tickets ever come . I'm calling the sales rep if they don't come by tomorrow.).

good to hear she is feeling better, I have zero doubt that when she comes back she will do it with vengeance. hopefully you will see her in the final in LA!

YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS! Venus, Serena, Henin have pulled out of San Diego! I don't think i'll be seeing any Americans in the SF or final in San Diego.

That's really bad to hear . All three pulling out is a real pitty.

Finally there is some sort of news about her. I am glad to hear she is practicing fully now. Once again though, the tier 1 Acura Classic has a poor draw.
