Comparison To ATP and WTA

about now, who would you say the members and the top computer players play like in the ATP and WTA?
stevos14

I think we've discussed this, but for sure Serena a lot like Child. In so many ways, commitment wise, Talent wise, Attitude wise.

John Edelstien is more of a Sampras or Federer, a more stoic figure who has great serve and volleys.

Jennacourt...Kind of like Davenport IMO, with her solid groundies. Maybe more of a Sharapova.

Xdoublea - Not really sure who exactly, I guess more like federer, as he is good at every shot in the book. Never too controversial either.

NEA - Hmmm, Rafael Nadal?? Maybe somewhere along those lines, great movement and mental, great clay skills, once had a great record on clay Wink .

PSALT I have no idea, I have compared his wit to Hingis. He also does well at the Aussie like hingis, maybe like Agassi as well. Great groundies, not impressive volleys.

Myself - I have no idea! Enlighten me... Very Happy

Off topic, but just in name, I like to think of Jennacourt as Jenifer Capriati. Isn't very much like her in game style though. Laughing
Agassi2000

Jennacourt-Easily Sharapova. Huge groundies and used to lose in semi finals of majors a lot. Also is young (I think?).

Vanessa Child-Serena obviously. Maybe Venus too because of her classic Wimbledon comeback and great movement.

Bizet-Roddick or J. Johansson.

John Edelstein-Federer, but not as good. I still find it amazing that he hasn't won Wimbledon.

Tricatrina-Hingis! Not too much power, but a great tactitian.

Phobe-Petrova. Does well on fast surfaces and never gets past the quarters of a major. Always a threat though.

Dav6789-Nalbandian. Doesn't usually do too well at the majors, but is great on hard courts and basically any surface. A solid baseline game.

PSALT-Baghdatis? Doesn't have too many titles to his name, but brings it at the majors.

NEA-Nadal, just not as dominant.

J-man-Safin, duh!

X.doublea-Tough to say. Maybe Kuznetsova because of his all around game? Or maybe even Mauresmo.

Leftys_rock-Hingis too......can't really think of another player.

Stevos14-Jankovic maybe? He's a fighter and gets the cround usually behind him, but can come across as arrogant and/or rude.

Me(Agassi2000)-Dent Sad . I have good volleys and a good serve, but hopefully my baseline game is better than his.

I don't really know Jbors47's and Benchwarmer1's games too well yet. Or Tennis fan's.
stevos14

I agree with all of yours. I like the Jankovic comparison, very good. And the Dent, Sharapova, and Roddick ones.
Baghdatis works for PSALT as well, results wise.

I don't agree with Bizet-Roddick. Roddick has a bigger forehand, and worse volleys. Roddick is typically not as bad a choker either. Bizet-Henman in his prime?

I'm not sure about me and Baghdatis. We both play our best in Slams, yes, but that is more or less where the comparisen ends. I am leaning towards more being Hingis like. A don't have her volleys, but like her I am not overpowering by any means, I also have a rather weak serve like her, also I do my best at the AO. Besides that maybe a little less powerful version of Kuznetsova.

I would lean much more to Doublea-Mauresmo. Doublea doesn't have Kuznetsova's power, but has better volleys.

What about Leftys-Schiavone? Both are gritty, yet suffer weird losses. They are relatively all-court players, not great at anything, but always solid.

I have won titles!! Laughing Something Fran hasn't done. Cool
Benchwarmer1

nice Laughing good point anyway, so nobody has a review for Tennis Fan, jbors and I, just look at our stats i guess
PSALT

I simply cannot think of one for Tennis Fan, his game has not came together yet.

Jbors- Henin-Hardenne, lot of variety, can do anything, more on the power side than variety side however.

Benchwarmer- Petrova, powerful, can volley but isn't great at it, good serve, all around is a solid power player.
x.doublea

Here are my views on the members:

Dave: Yes, I would agree with Agassi2000 that Nalbandian's the player. Dave's strokes and serves are uncomfortably similar to Davenport's, but he has a better mental and movement and not-as-good volleys.

PSALT: You know, I'm inclined to say Hewitt, except PSALT's volleys and serves are poorer, but the strokes might be slightly better.

N_E_A: Let's say a Nadal with a greater serve, shall we?

J-Man: Safin in terms of movement and speed, but I"m inclined to say that his strokes are very similar to Andre's, except he has a weaker backhand and, towards the end, a weaker serve.

Myself: Um, I guess I would be a Mauresmo actually, or perhaps a down-graded Federer.

stevos: Can anyone say, Jimmy Connors?

Agassi2000: I think he's sort of a Henman who's not as good (missed some training sessions).

leftys: I'll say Hingis as well, but is she as crafty?

Hewitt possibly, I have never viewed myself as a counter-puncher however,

I have never thought of Leftys as being "crafty", I always thought Trinky and NEA were, but not her. I just see Leftys being the kind of player that plays each point as if her life depended on it. Gritty, but far from crafty. She doesn't have the lobs and drop shots.

Even I cannot think of one for me Confused
x.doublea

TennisFan, if you take it strictly by proportions compared to your stats, you're sort of a Davydenko....
Tennis fan

That would be nice, but I don't think i deserve to be compared to a top-10 player. I was looking more for a lower ranked played that rose slowly and continues to fight in every match with little success. I lost a lot of 3-setters 1st round matches and also won a few.

Anyhow, thanks! There is some similarity if you look at it from your point of view.

Anybody think that Hewitt is kind of the stronger Hingis of the mens? He isn't nearly as crafty and is obviously more powerful, but is not very large(relatively) and is pretty speedy and gets a lot of balls back.

Schiavone isn't a bad player to compare me too, but just with more mental fortitude, and a bit less choking. I just happen to hate Schiavone's grunt though. Just imagine, in FT for each shot, I go "UHHN, HUHHHHH!!"
Not_Even_Amateur

I have soooo got one for leftys particularly in reference to what PSALT said about her "playing every point as though her life depends on it":

DEMENTIEVA!

Suffers weird losses, good groundies, has won titles. Tenacious. Hey, it all fits?
dav6789

That is an exact comparison for leftys, NEA! Can't believe it hasen't been mentioned before!

I think Edelstein is like a Steffi Graf as they have powerful games and can play on all surfaces and don't like the media too much.

I think x.doublea suits someone like Tim Henman.

I'm not too sure who I would be....Nalbandian is a decent one but there are some differences there.

Other than that I agree with most other previous picks.
x.doublea

Yes, N_E_A, that's a perfect comparison. leftys and dementieva. I would think leftys is the grittier player, though.

I was the 3 set queen for a while, but now, definitely not the case. Hopefully, I have a better serve than her! Laughing I have worse volleys, but it's pretty accurate. I think somebody mentioned the similarity like early in Season 2, but I don't remember who.
stevos14

Oh man, today I was just thinking that! Leftys-dementieva. Oh well.
